Recommended Posts

I bought a new lamy safari about a month back . To clean the pen , I just removed the converter and put the pen in a glass of water to remove clogging . However what I observe is that the feeder automatically has slightly come out As a result of which nib is slightly more out and am unable to close the pen . Also pls tell me how to push back feeder in as it's not moving at all and stays as it slightly out of the pen . Pls help . Thanks in advance. I went out of my budget to buy a lamy and am worried as to how this happened

Could you post a photo? So we can see if the feed is misaligned. There are grooves inside the pen where it should rest.

As a new user you'll need to host it somewhere. Attachment are for users with more postings.

Hi, With the Safari design, the feed does show outside of the pen body, that is how they are designed to be. (See photo.)

One advantage of using the LAMY cartridge converter is that it can be used to push water up and down the feed to clean it.

Hi Aceaps 11, When you cleaned your Safari, did the feed come right out of the finger grip section?

If it did, you have to put it back in the pen, in one special way, or it won't go fully back to where it should be.

My 2 photos show which way the feed and section must be, to fit together.

See how there is a slot inside the section, that fits a raised part on the feed?

Hope this helps you to get your pen working again.

Hi, If you drop the section with jammed feed into a cup of very hot water, leave it for 2 or 3 minutes, quickly dry it, then try to pull the feed out again, you might find that will help.

Hi Mike59,

Tried that too but it still didn't come out . Seems to be a defective piece as else how can feeder suddenly come out just by the act of putting it in a glass of water . Have given it to the shop requesting for a replacement. Many thanks for your help

Hello Acecaps11,

I would go back and get your "replacement," but then I would look for a new retailer... I have by doubts if what you have is a genuine Safari... I own a lot of Lamy's... I always soak my sections... I've never experienced a problem remotely like yours.

Good luck.

Hi Aceaps 11, Hope you get a replacement part or pen.

With all my Safaris over 10 years I found the feeder to be very difficult to get out at all.

But by heating up the grip section in very hot water, it makes it expand by a fraction of a mm and gives me a better chance of getting it out. From my photos you can see inside the section is a groove, and it fits in a rail at the 6 o'clock position of the feed, and it only will fit togther that way. any other way and it will jam.

I do believe the feeds are not designed to be taken out by the user, and normally a cup of water will be enough to flush the old ink out. I use my LAMY pens a great deal, a tough design that is worth the asking price.

Can new users not use the Upload feature either?

As long as they are Bronze. I think when they get promoted to Bronze+ they can use upload. But new users can use attachment for the time being.
