Places For Striped Duofolds

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! I'm in the market for a nice Senior sized striped duofold. I'm particularly interested in the blue pearl version!

Are there any places in Australia who may have a nice one of these? Or anywhere great in the states or other overseas areas?

I have been waiting for a reasonable one on ebay but no luck. I can't quite post a WTB yet here, but will once I hit that (30) mark.

Lastly, what price are we looking at if we're being fair?

Thank you so much!

I think eBay is the best way to go for you. One will come up eventually. :)

Are you searching on eBay.com to maximise your chances?

If you want one fully functional, you may have to pay up. These seem to be in very high demand. I have been following them lately with great interest, since I find them gorgeous. But I only buy unrestored and restore them myself - which is still pretty expensive, particularly when you take into account that sometimes things do go wrong (I got a pristine blue, just like you say, that refuses to let go of the filler)

Here is a place, in the US, that usually has them

http://www.(bleep).com/websitesales/forsaleparkerduofold.htm

Still high prices, but they seem to offer warranty.

Another place you could look into (also in the US) is https://www.gopens.com/

It is not in every catalog that he has one, but every now and then one shows up.

Incidentally, going to the Vacu-mania page now to see the prices I learned that the desk pens are uncommon. I'm happy with that info, because last weekend I found a black one at an antique, complete with a perfect base, for the handsome sum of $48. It dutifully awaits its turn in my repair desk!

(Of course, since it "only" took visiting 23 antiques over 3 states, I paid much more than if I ordered it restored from eBay).

Good luck.

Edited: why the heck it keeps substituting vacuma-nia (without -) for "bleep"???

Patience is key! Too bad that's not what my mind is telling me! I've caught the pen bug.

Sure am, and will continue to search eBay while looking for alternatives :)

Hi Tom, thank you so much for your reply!

I actually thought the seniors were only Vac fills, which is what I had been searching for! I'm mostly looking for a vac fill senior :)

I absolutely love the double jewel but am open to double and single.
