Pilot Pluminix Italic F, M, B

Does anyone know the line width and/or have writing samples for the Pluminix Italic F, M and B nibs? I know the goulet nib nook shows a 1.0 plumix and prera stub which I assume to be a medium italic nib. Does anyone have any more or other information?

I have a Plumix. If memory serves, it has a nib that is identical to the CM nib in the Prera (about 1mm). I was not aware that any other size was offered for the Plumix.

Current Daily Carry: Pilot Custom 743 with 14k Posting nib (Sailor Kiwa-Guro), Sailor 1911L Realo Champagne with 21k Extra Fine nib (Sailor Tokiwa-Matsu). Platinum Century 3776 Bourgogne (Diamine Syrah), Nakaya Portable Writer Midori with 14k Extra Extra Fine nib (Lamy Peridot), Pilot Vanishing Point Stealth Black with Extra Fine nib unit (Pilot Blue Black), a dozen Nockco DotDash index cards of various sizes and a Traveler's Notebook.

Pilot measures the standard M as 0.58mm, not 1.0mm. Don't set any store by the numbers. After all, who knows what it's a measure of: the maximum width, the width of a horizontal stroke with a typical italic pen hold, something else?

See here for links to pictures.

The M is slightly narrower than a Lamy 1.1mm, the B slightly broader.

I've ordered a Pluminix F but it hasn't arrived yet. Hopefully this will help a little. I am assuming the 78g B will be the same as the Pluminix B and the Plumix M the same as the Pluminix M (it is the same as the Prera CM, but I can't show a sample because I ruined the nib while trying to stop it being scratchy :()

My Pluminix F arrived.

I like the nib very much, but the pen itself is small and awkward to hold. It's giving me discomfort in the muscle along the base of my thumb after only a page of writing.

The nib will be swapped onto a Prera as soon as I can acquire one for it.

I hope the photos are useful.

May I ask, please, does the Plumix M nib seem the same as the 78g B, e.g. line widths, crispness, writing feel, etc.? Also, do you know if it is the same nib as the "CM" on Metropolitans & Preras?

I really, really like the B nibs on my three 78g's and I'd like to get some more but, preferably, on a Metropolitan/MR or Prera (and I wouldn't be adverse from taking them from Plumix's and/or 78g's if it were cost effective to do so).

The CM nibs on Pilot MR and Prera pens are essentially the same as tbe Plumix M nib.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

They feel similar to write with, but this photo taken by my son shows the Metropolitan to be slightly more rounded than the 78g.

Thanks to both you and your son.

By my eyeball the widths of both the down & cross strokes in the Plumix M & 78g B look very similar in your sample. Does that jibe with your experience?

Yes, as far as I recall, but it was a while back and I can't find my Plumix M to confirm.

With my 78g B nibs I really like the crispness, as well as how smooth they are given that crispness. While I can get some more 78g B's here where I live (and I just might do so given the low price) I am not crazy about the light weight of the 78g nor it's grip so it looks like I need to try a Metropolitan/MR or Prera with a CM nib.

Ideally I'd like the nib to be a little less wide on the longer axis but not as narrow as the Plumix F but that's a whole other can of worms ...

Thanks again!
