Pankaj - as Hemingway might have said, you pens are very Peli-CAN. Ok, sorry for the bad pun.

JMTB - you have got some nice nibs there. Thank you for sharing.

Awesome nibs ZMTB !

Great pics. The Cross Point is a dream nib. I think its equally a daily user, at least I use mine quite often. Just a little discomfort while writing upside down for a fine line. How do you manage with that point on the reverse?

Thank you LR.

I like the poppy red, but more than that I like the Poppy / doggy in your profile photograph ... smile.

BTW 149 + O3B is a lethal combo, no ?

Not something I've done with the pen. The great thing with with cross point is if I need a thinner line I can simply raise the angle of the pen.

I've had a Lamy 1.5 for a while, and just got a 1.1. Trying this one out for daily use for note-taking at work, seems to do the job!

Lamy turquoise ink in the one, and Cross Black in the other. Field Notes and Squier JV Strat for scale/color balance reference.

My only unmodified nib in the Broad range is on a late 1950s Montblanc 254, with a "stubbish" !4c BB "Flügelfeder" nib.

This factory double broad nib vies with the very best of my customized edged nibs. Writes like an expertly shaped, forgiving stub.

Two Kaweco/Bock (060) 14c nibs, a BB & a B on Kaweco Dia2 pens. The BB nib was reduced in width to a 0.8 mm stub, The B to a 0.6 mm. CI.

I'll add to this thread as I get to use my various pens, but today I will kick things off with a Sailor King Eagle nib on a King of Pen. This nib is essentially the ultimate architect nib with the ability to lay down very wide horizontal lines. Teh cool feature is the ability to give line width variation based on writing angle. You can also write with the reverse side of the nib for the finest line.

fpn_1499707288__20170709_230237_resized.

Sorry for the low light shot from last night.

Why do I like the nib? Well, it is fun to play with and varying angles is something I do on occasion anyway. This rewards my fidgety behavior by giving me the feeling of different nibs in one pen. Plus the thing is just lovely to look at. It feels like excessive luxury to have three nibs stacked on top of each other. It is so excessive it could have been designed in the USA at a monster truck rally! (You can almost hear the chanting and motors revving.)

Zaddick,

What paper are you using to give these wonderful writing samples?

Phil

OK, on to the pictures.

Here is a fun little pen I picked up not too long ago - a Bexley Winter Wonderland made for Jim Gaston in 2003. Jim used to partner with pen makers to have special editions created and he would sell them himself. Mostly this was with Bexley and Sheaffer.

This pen came in three colors - blue, red, and green. I think the end caps are made of Sheaffer cobalt glow acrylic while the barrel and cap are "cracked ice" with some translucency. What is really fun is the section that you can see the ink through (in addition to the ink window). It is sort of a semi-demonstrator. The pen is piston fill.

What I like about these Jowo steel nibs is the smoothness and the flow you get without tipping. This nib is the "high performance steel" from Franklin Christoph, but I think it is the same as the generic JOWO 1.5. I don't mind buying from FC because they have great customer service and I like to support the firm where I can. The nib is a good size for me and provides great variation.

Cappuccino should work. Frothy milk also helps to lubricate the nib. But it has to be made by a barista.

@FineFinerFinest: have you seen this thread? https://www.fountainpennetwor...nging-pelikan-nibs/#comments
    • FineFinerFinest 24 Oct 8:52
No replies required to my complaints about the Pelikan. A friend came to the rescue with some very magnification equipment - with the images thrown to a latge high res screen. Technology is a wonderful thing. Thanks to Mercian for the reply. I had been using the same paper & ink for sometime when the "singing" started. I have a theory but no proof that nibs get damaged when capping the pen. 👍
    • Mercian 22 Oct 22:28
@FineFinerFinest: sometimes nib-'singing' can be lessened - or even cured - by changing the ink that one is putting through the pen, or the paper that one is using. N.b. *sometimes*. Good luck

I'm not expecting any replies to my question about the singing Pelikan nib. It seems, from reading the background, that I am not alone. It's a nice pen. It's such a pity Pelikan can't make decent nibs. I have occasionally met users who tell me how wonderful their Pelikan nib is. I've spent enough money to know that not everyone has this experience. I've worked on nibs occasionally over forty years with great success. This one has me beaten. I won't be buying any more Pelikan pens. 👎
    • FineFinerFinest 21 Oct 4:27

I have several Parker Roller Ball & Fiber Tip refills in the original packaging. Where and how do I sell them? The couple that I've opened the ink still flowed when put to paper. Also if a pen would take the foller ball refill then it should take the fiber tip as well? Anyway it's been awhile and I'm want to take my message collection beyond the few pieces that I have... Meaning I don't have a Parker these refills will fit in 🙄

@Eppie_Matts Shouldn't be a problem - I've just put a Bock #6 Titanium into a La Grande Bellezza section. Went straight in without any problem.

Hi, I'm new to this forum and was wondering where is the best place to sell a Montblanc ballpoint pen? Are ballpoints allowed here? It's a beautiful pen that deserves a great listing. Thanks.

I havent logged in here for a while. I have moved and when I try to change my location on my profile, when I go to save it, it sais 'page not found' and that I do not have authority to change that.
