The Pelikan BB nib just came in. Writes more like a broad or medium because the tipping was taken off when grinding the stub, but it writes nicely. Will put up pictures later.

congrats. Looking fwd to pics. Edited by hari317

Preparing the pens for next week. A Duofold maxima with an OB (my estimate). This is a factory nib. Graph paper has 1mm fine grid.

@hari317 Thanks for the pics Harry. Well done.

I've used a lot of broads - but usually have ground them down to stubs. Thanks for the pics again.

I had no idea spare nibs for the Lamy 2000 were now available until I stumbled upon them at the Endlesspens website. I promptly bought a couple of OBBs. Here is one fitted to one of my Lamy 2000 metal pens, the pen originally had an EF nib. Lamy service Germany swapped the nib foc to B. Now I have put in an OBB. The black pen came factory fitted with the OBB.

^Hari, could you provide a writing sample. I am very tempted to buy one of those Lamy nibs!

Sure.

Here is an update from Tom Kellie, who is locked away in CoronaVirus Land:

Every day I think of FPN friends, especially in the Montblanc, Pelikan and Inks Forums.
The fountain pens on my writing desk are in daily use. I’m surprised to find that I like Herbin scented inks more with repeated use.
As shopping malls are closed here, the local suppliers of inks, paper and fountain pens are currently unavailable.
My supplies are more than adequate, therefore I’m able to enjoy both sketching and writing.

After using exclusively F and M size pens I've just acquired my first B nib - a Montblanc 146 Solitaire Platinum Facet. It is taking some getting used to but I'm enjoying the difference. The most challenging part has been that I need to hold the pen differently, at less of an angle with the paper. Does anyone have any tips for a B newbie?

Reading through this thread again makes me want to share some of my broad nibs. Maybe soon :)

Here's one: A Pelikan BB nib ground to a stub by John Mottishaw. Very nice writer, though just a tiny bit dry.

One more. A factory P-51 BBB nib, very stubby. I got the pen and the nib separately, it is one of my best writing nibs.

Question: Is it better to get a BB nib on a 146 Solitaire or on a 149?

Yes!

Add lightness and simplicate.

Yes!

If you could only pick one of them, on which of the following would you rather have a BB nib: (i) on a 146 Solitaire, or (ii) on a 149.
