1.3 stub retip

Nice! Who did the retip? Is a writing sample possible?

One hopes the nib manglers scrubbing away at their nibs with implements of destruction will take note of the complex angles and precise grinds on quality nibs.

Amen to that!

Tell me I'm dreaming.

The “Enjoying Montblanc Pens...” thread has never yet been blessed with such a powerful inked nib image.

Drama in a fountain pen nib still life.

That's already a favorite image...the way that the ink highlights the UNICEF OBBB design — SUPERB!

Thank you for turbo-charging my notion of what a nib image might be.

Retip done by Greg Minuskin

Great quote! I have a hard enough time enduring myself--I can only imagine how difficult it must be for others.

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.

my current French production Centennial Duofold

#95 Broad Italic nib, less line width variance than the UK production. Anyway, acceptable as they have tried their best to get me this nib without turning me down. :D

Already posted to the Pelikan forum... but yeah, guess this one fits here too. :D Just recently ordered a vintage Pelikan 400 and it arrived today (alngside a Pelikan's wonderful magazine 'Passion')...

The pen was bought from a private seller as is... and that turned out to be slightly better than expected. As in, it is user grade with some brassing on the edge of the cap trim (about 50% of the edge intact, nice and clean elsewhere), no major scratches other than some on the piston knob (someone had scratched an X there?).

Nib had something funky happening on the other side of the stem, like someone had pressed the edge in leaving it a bit warped. Doesn't affect the function though.

Gave it a proper cleanup, took care of the scratches and gave it a base polish with a series of Micropads and a final glossy polish with cloth and some Microgloss. Turned out nice, methinks, the only niggle being the cap trim. Trims are otherwise 99%. I especially love how the binde looks now that it is smoothed out and all glossy, the celluloid has wonderful depth and glistens in the sun.

The nib is... very, very nice. Extremely wet writer when pushed, leaves a lovely fat puddled stroke behind (goes from 1.3 to 2.0 mm). One has to be careful with that though, it takes a while to dry. A long while with some inks. :D

The side view of your Broad Italic nib is especially impressive.

That's an excellent pen photo.

Thank you for posting it here.
