Montblanc Monotone Yellow Gold 149 Bespoke Small Signature Nib

I don't want to ask 'how does it write', but.... how does it write?

*Remember people... this service is $1,800. And that doesn't include the pen.

...and is it broader than a King Cobra?

King Cobra Sailor nibs are about a 6B.

I believe Tom's pen is about a 4B. Please correct me if I am wrong Tom.

Yes, that's right.

During the process of ordering the Bespoke nib, I emphasized that a nib slightly larger than an OBBB was preferred, but not a wet writer.

With the enhanced ink flow of special channels within the feed and the two slits, I wanted to avoid a splotchy, wet mess.

Happily, Axel Nier and his Bespoke Nib Team in Hamburg, Germany found the ideal balance, as the ink flows when I rapidly write, yet it's not at all a wet writer.

At this time I'll be taking a couple of days to read, rather than being on-line, in order to cope and adjust with a recent loss in my life.

Before doing so, I'll post a few more detailed images in response to a request in this thread.

After I'm in a more settled state, I'll post more about the pen as a writer. Suffice it to say that it's easily the finest writing pen that I've ever used.

It fits my preferences like a hand in a glove or a key in a lock. I like it so well that I may likely order another one as the Bespoke Small Signature is a superb daily writer.

What a great topic this is. Thanks Zaddick for starting it.

Here is a Namiki Yukari with a nib that was modified to at least a BB, maybe BBB, its cursive italic

I bought it at a pen show

InkyFingers what pen is that? It has a neat looking nib. I can't believe anyone at Pepsi would need a small spatula like that! :)

  • 2 weeks later...

Here is one I pulled out of storage and inked up today. Not as broad as many of my other writers, but still a nice Japanese BB that give a good line and with a wetness that allows for shading on my Iroshizuku inks.

I like the pen itself, but this nib is just a pleasant writer with a touch of feedback thanks to the good flow. I have issues with the very narrow Platinum nibs as they have more feedback than I like most days.

Here is a little close up of the dragon in indirect light from my window.

I never saw anything like that.

Thank you for posting it.

A green dragon must be one of the most eco-friendly pens, no?

On the page shown in the link above there are several handwriting samples written with the Bespoke Small Signature nib.

There are also comments about its utility as a regular writer.

I apologize for the delay in making these images available.

~ The image below of four Montblanc nib feeds is for Ghost Plane and zaddick.

They’ve both expressed interest in seeing the feeds of various nibs.

For comparison, the four pens are also shown side-by-side.

In both images, from left to right, the pens are:

1. Montblanc 2000 Writers Edition Friedrich Schiller Bespoke Sketch Nib

2. Montblanc 2001 Patron of Art Marquise de Pompadour F Nib

3. Montblanc Platinum 149 OBBB

4. Montblanc Monotone Yellow Gold 149 Bespoke Small Signature Nib

One hopes the nib manglers scrubbing away at their nibs with implements of destruction will take note of the complex angles and precise grinds on quality nibs.
