Oooh, what's the ink you used? I don't normally like that color, but that one looks interesting, especially with the sheening/shading thing going on.

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Sorry to jump on the topic with something slightly off-topic, but can you guys recommend a affordable & modern BBB pen ?

Do you want a stub or a rounded tip? The Jowo 1.5 nib in steel is affordable and very usable with good variation. For a ball tip 3B, nothing cheap I can think of.

I have a stub 1.1 and the ‘pickiness’ of position while writing is not that comfortable, so a ball tip 3B appears to be way better.

Do you tend to rotate your grip (section) like I do?

Slowing down your writing really helps in keeping your nib's writing edge in contact with your paper.

The JoWo 1.1 mm italic nib is about the most forgiving factory "stub" that I've ever used. They are not tipped, like the nibs graded from XF to B, yet still very accurately shaped & polished.

I have had one version of the 1.1 branded as Edison & another labelled as Franklin-Christoph. Even though the Edison wrote very smoothly right out of the box, I sought to "improve" the feel by having the nib customized by a well know nib-tech. This actually made the 1.1 nib too smooth & not as easy to control.

Try writing slowly & deliberately, concentrating on your grip position. Most of all, have fun writing with your JoWo 1.1.

This thread is awesome!! Some drool worthy pens and nibs have been shared. Personally I don't like writing with anything finer than a western Broad. Sharing few of the broader nibs from my small collection.

Here is my Pelikan M400 brown tortoise with the IB nib and a Lamy 2000 BB nib fit on a Taobao 2000 demo. Both of these are super wet and smooth, putting down a line that's close to 1.5mm I guess.

This is a Nakaya Neostandard with a BB nib. This one writes like a paintbrush laying down tons of ink with each stroke. Pure bliss.

Sadly I have just one image of it in the phone right now. Will share more images of this and a few others later.

Cheers!

My stub is a pilot metropolitan stub (its a 1.0 stub, not a 1.1). I still have a goulet stub 1.1 nib to install in some soon-to-be-frankensteinized pen, still didnt decided which pen will get it.

Im really interested on the more ‘exotic’ nibs right now: BB, BBB, OBB, Music, Zoom, etcetera.

and you are right, for sure its a slow writer by nature, way better when writing slowly.

Thank you for the above mention of a Zoom nib.

It's the first time that I've ever encountered the term.

Because of your post, I've added another nib variety to my mental set of nib possibilities.
