My "ink usingest" pen is a MB 149 with an OBBB nib... recently made the mistake of taking it on vacation without the bottle... sigh.

Today my usual carry--Pelikan 605 Ruby Red with a broad nib customized by Linda Kennedy to a very sweet left oblique cursive italic 20 degrees, my favorite grind!

It's definitely worth checking out. It holds quite a bit a ink, good enough for at least 1 or 2 more fills for a piston filler. I haven't seen any ink leaking, but when I want to absolutely make sure, I seal it in a zipper bag when carrying it around.

 

If you have a Visconti 1/2/3/6/12 pen pouch, that would be even better, because the inkwell fits in it perfectly.

The problem with the Visconti traveling inkwell is that it's darned expensive. I mean, I've paid less for some of my Parker 51s.... And only.a couple of bucks more for my Plummer....

Don't know about the inkwell and I don't really travel with my fountain pens.... but if I needed to take additional ink I think I'd just use one my empty sample vials. They hold about 2 fills..

Sample vials would be a good idea too. I do prefer the travelling inkwells though, just because the opening fits large pens as well (MB 149, Pelikan M1000/M800), while most of my sample vials can't do anything about it.

It's October people:

I picked this pen up several years ago here on FPN. It is Bexley's homage to pel, but only in the owut ward look the nib doesn't crew out and it is a CC filler. But the nib is faboo! It is labeled 18K "B" but it is vey stubbish, a real kick to write with. Please excuse my penmen ship, I had an ear operation today so 'things' are a little off tonight.

I've got into Pelilans recently, and currently inked I have:

 

M1000 Green <B> with Edelstein Tanzanite

M800 Tortoise <F> with Edelstein Aquamarine

 

And an M1005 demonstrator sitting uninked with nib troubles.

 

Eyeing off a 400nn too!!

At the moment, the only Pelikans that are inked up is the M400 Brown Tortoise, with a fill of 4001 Brilliant Brown glommed off of someone last month at the local Pelikan Hub, and the M405 Striated Blue, with diluted Edelstein Amethyst (also filled at the Hub, but that time from my own bottle.

Thinking that I might see how Edelstein Smoky Quartz looks coming out of the OB nib on the vintage 400, but haven't gotten around to trying that yet.

A perfect 1958 400NN tortoise, with an oblique medium, from Rick Propas at the Ohio Pen Show, inked with Robert Oster Lake of Fire. Beautiful, but still looking for the red shading.

Lets see, 5 of my 10 inked pens are birds:

 

- M1000 Black EF (the only EF that I still like to use), with RO Fire & Ice

- M805 Blue/Black M, with Edelstein Aquamarine

- M800 Grand Place B, with MB St. Exupery

- M205 Red F, with MB Corn Poppy Red

- M201 Bayou OBB (14k), with MB Toffee Brown.

 

My good friend BillH will probably recognize some of these inks ;).
