Tonight, I inked my new 140 for the first time, with Kana-cho Midnight. When the listing said F, it really did mean F, it's almost EF even. Still getting used to it because, surprisingly for something so similar in size to the M150 which I use un-posted quite comfortably, this one just feels off somehow so I'm having to post it. Very strange, maybe it's the rounded end vs. the flat one that makes it feel so different.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

  • M800 Burnt Orange/M - Iro's Fuyu-gaki.... for me a match made in Heaven; the only ink it has supped on
  • M805 Stresemann/M - KWZ Warsaw Dreaming.... a recent ink from KWZ, loaded yesterday, liking so far
  • M800 Green Stripe/M - Monteverde's Olivine..... had this one for a few months and really like this shade of green, good performer too
  • M805 Demo/M - Iro's Asa-goa has been the long term partner for this pen.... no plans to change
  • M800 Blue Stripe/BB2Stub - 1670 Blue Ocean, this nib and ink are a great combo [for me]
  • M800 Red Stripe/B2Stub - Monteverde's FireOpal a red I enjoy, as with Olivine a great all round performer.
  • M800 Black/B2Stub - Iro's Tsuki-yo has been a long term resident but about to switch out to KZW recent release Walk on the Vistual.
  • B2 or BB2Stub terms describe factory nib and its subsequent customization.....

  • 2 weeks later...

Just sent off three (3) vintage Pelikan nibs, a 100, a 100N, and a 400, to be tuned. Over time the flexible nibs had gotten out of alignment. So I inked a 400M, with a 1950s EF nib, with Pelikan Tanzanite. That gives me a Pelikan M800, with italicized M nib, filled with Monteverde Olivine, a Pelikan M600, with an italicized B, filled with Monteverde Horizon Blue, a Pelikan 400NN, with an OM, filled with Robert Oster Lake of Fire, and a Pelikan 140, with flexible EF, with Pelikan Aventurine, along with the above Pelikan M400. This is a great lineup, and superb inks. Each of the italic nibs were modified by Pendleton Brown. PB is also tuning my vintage nibs that are currently out of alignment.

Somehow I ended up with only skinny nibs  !

:lticaptd: skinny nibs! I love it. Nice array though Lam1... you've been having fun!

Lam1, that Twist looks like a fun pen. I'm going to have to do some searching around for those. Are they piston pens, or c/c fillers?

Thanks, BillH. Indeed, I’m having lots of fun. Of course, just kidding about the nibs, I like them all from F to IB (ok, EF is a bit “much” :) ).

Ruth, the twist is indeed a very fun pen, with a wonderful nib. You should definitely try them (there is a seller on “the evil site” that has them at a good price right now).
