Parker Duofold Nib Question

Recommended Posts

Hi, is someone please able to tell me if a Parker Duofold Manifold Nib ( Canadian made) normally looks like it has no tipping? I will try to attach a photo but basically it looks like a clean straight writing edge to the nib. It writes smoothly, a little bit of an unusual ( almost italic) feel. Would also like to know the best place to source a clip for it too. Thanks in advance ...

A duofold nib should have tipping material. Yours looks like it was ground down to create an architect nib. Perhaps part of the original tip broke off and an amateur reground it. The edge looks rough and there is a slight secondary shoulder between the proper shoulder of the nib and the tip.

A tip like that should produce narrow verticals and broad horizontals, kind of the opposite of an italic and similar to some obliques. If you like using it that way, there is no need to change anything. It will wear faster than a tipped nib but if you do not use it heavily, that is not a major problem. A nibmeister would have to round off the sharp front edge anyway before welding on a new tip.
