Hi folks,

Diamine Majestic Blue is one of those inks that sheens like a champion :) Why did no one tell me about this ink earlier?

The colour is a true blue, it flows very nicely even with the finest nibs. Sheen does take over and often covers the entire letter.

Tomoe River is the best paper to display sheen, but this ink does show on other papers too.

Majestic Blue is not waterproof; it does not wash away completely, so I would happily use it to address envelopes.

It would make a perfect every day ink. Strange coming from teal/green/orange person :) but I really do like this one.

What do you think?

Enjoy,

Mishka (^_~)

Thank you for this lush test! ... Today is the day of blue inks and sheen for me! ... overwhelming!

NIce review, good ink, but what I don't like about it is that it smears incessantly. Even days later, after I "thought" and/or expected that it should have eventually dried.

I have never experienced this, nor any of the other reported problems with this ink. I have long come to experience so much reported on this forum and value what members write a lot, but with this ink I could't be further at the other end of the seemingly general experience.. (no sumdging, smearing, dry-out, etc etc)

I had it in my Parker Frontier, which is a greater firehose gusher than any of my Pelikans, and every single letter I wrote was pure sheen and yet it dried within minutes and didn't smear...

I just got this ink as part of a Goulet "Random Ink Sample" set. Now I have to put it in a pen.

Lush definitely comes to mind for this ink! Thanks for the great looking review.

Majestic Blue is a go-to color when I'm looking for something rich. It's what I picked when my Namisu Nova Stonewashed Titanium w/ EF Ti nib turned up recently. I am still very much enjoying the combination.

Me too, I love this ink a lot, for its very solid and saturated blue colour! And I didn't experience the smearing problem as well. I found this ink can almost be completely flushed away on Rhodia paper, problem (if it is a problem) is not that serious on cheaper, nonFP-friendly paper. Edited by MingLau

I can confirm in my pens that this stuff sheens HARD in even my XF/XXF schaeffer statesman, with no flow or staining issues.

I do prefer blue velvet for the more saturated color, but this is an intense sheener.

I'm not a fan of blue inks, but I do like this one a lot. On good paper the sheen does get a little distracting (there's just so much of it!!) but on cheap paper (less sheen, but still noticeable) it's awesome.

This is the ink that started my crazed search for sheeny blue inks. It came to me in the form of a single cart with a pen I ordered online. The seller not remembering which ink they sent and just needing to have this color shifting ink, the search was on.

The smearing problem is one that I just put up with because I just love the color and sheen, until I found pther great sheening blue inks that do not smear as much. Have Diamine reformulated it to solve the smearing problem, mine being an older bottle?

Could well be. Mine is 8-10 years old and I guess the others raved on above are newer and improved since I and others (e.g. our good ol' cap'n) have complained enough here.

Nice review. I think at another time I would really want to try this one. Right now I am into lighter blues but like the shade of this one.

Thanks for the review
