Help Identifying 14K 1990 Tortoise Parker Fountain Pen..?

Hi all,

I've come across a nice looking Parker fountain pen in some boxes in my shed, and I've been trying to figure out what model it is. However I'm not having much luck. The info I know about it is:

Date code is IIIQ - 1990.

It has "Parker 585 14k" on the job.

Around the band on the lid it has "Parker France IIIQ".

 

I'm thinking it might be either a Parker 35, 75, or 180. However I'm not entirely sure which.

 

If anyone could help me identify it and possibly how much it's worth that would be much appreciated

Your pen looks like a well kept Parker 75 of the "lacquer" series.

Definitely a Parker 75 Thuya Lacque, and with that date code, quite a late one. The more rounded section is the more recent version as expected.

 

Very nice pens and high quality. I hope you enjoy it.

 

Although I have only recently started posting, I have been browsing FPN for a good while now, and it seems that protocol is not to make pen valuations for a variety of reasons, which I understand and will respect. The best place to find a valuation is to check eBay sold listings, which will give you an idea of how much things actually go for.

 

Find some ink and start her up. I'm sure you'll find using the 75 very relaxing and fun.

Yes, later French production Parker 75. It is among the best Parker Cartridge / converter pens. Take good care of the pen and enjoy writing with it.

There were two versions of the Thuya, iiirc. I have the other, which is less mottled. Ill post a pic soon.

I look forward to your picture because I thought I also had the Thuya & mine doesn't look like this one. I would say mine is darker, with almost Orange splotches, besides being a "Premier." I may have mistaken it for the Thuya, when I just looked @ the link above, I saw my pen identified as "Chinese lacquer with speckles," so I may be totally mistaken, yet would enjoy seeing your photograph.

Thank you for the picture of the Darker Thuya; mine is obviously NOT called Thuya, but perhaps I merely "adopted the name, because it looked similar. I shall call mine merely, "Parker 75, Premier, Chinese lacquer, with speckles!" I do like the lacquer finish on mine & have always thought the onyx jewels were nice, not so crazy about the faceted trim rings, they seem a bit "glitzy."

 

I am not sure the 1980's were the best years for fountain pens, there seem to be a lot of skinny pens from that time.

But your Premier is not skinny. It, rather, is a bulky pen when compared to the standard 75.

Aside frome size of the cap and barrel (and cap/barrel bands) the nib/nib section in both the 75 and the Premier 75 is the same. So function wise there doesn't seem to be any difference between the two.
