Fan Of Pilot Petit

So I just received a Pilot Petit from Japan and I think it's a wonderful little inexpensive pen. it writes much finer than the Varsity that I tend to use on the go (because I once lost a good pen...). Even though it is short, it fits well in my hand and I think is a great pen to live with a checkbook, wallet, or small purse. No, it doesn't write like my Sailor, but if I lose it I won't be tearing myself up.

My advice - buy lots of them. It seems as if the production will end - at least for some colours.

I like them a lot, and I keep several inked. I've also recently gotten into the Pilot Petit 3 -- the fude brush nib. The blue-black ink in that is gorgeous and calligraphic. Not good for writing, but great for printing and lettering.

Love the Petits... Haven't touched my inked pair for months, last remember using them at Xmas... but revisited them last night and both started up just fine, no hesitation! pilot = magic Their carts were still mostly full.

 

(Haven't used my Parallels in same time... wonder if they'll still be alive... doubt it though.)

 

Shame about the cheery colours going, is Pilot bringing out a new range I wonder?

They've already dumped my favourite Petit in brown from the first gen, so it won't be a first time.

 

Are you all still only using the genuine proprietary Pilot Petit carts? The OE ink is pretty wet, haven't yet found any bottle ink equivalent that I can refill my Petits with and retain the same smooth feel. This is the biggest issue IMHO since once they discontinue a Petit colour, can't get more carts other.

 

Been meaning to try the Parallel Mixable inks in a Petit but haven't gotten around to it.

i've have tried a few (originally trying to replicate their Brown) but they've all turned out dry & scratchy compared to OE ink. OE carts write silky smooth.

 

During these trials i keep another 1 OE inked up to test side by side so its not just "imagination"

 

been wondering what ppl fill their ED-converted Petit1s with. Even Pilot's own bottle inks (both std & Iros) don't feel as lubed as the Petit OEs.

This makes me so sad! Thanks for the heads-up; I'll be sure to grab some while I can. This is my first one, so I only have the OE - I guess I'll have to stock up on that as well. I'm afraid to convert to an ED since I'm a bit of a klutz.

With a little silicone grease, I made one into an eye-dropper...wrote great, held a LOT of ink! Kept it as a desk only...just didn't trust the grease to be perfect! Never did have any leaks!

So I ordered some more of these before the neat colors disappear.... Do y'all think it's the pen or the proprietary ink that makes this such a nice little writer?

My daughter gave me a set of the Pilot Petit fountain pens for Christmas, along with a bunch of vials of cartridges. She said that she thought they would be great for traveling. Well, dubious of less expensive fountain pens, I hadn't used them until today. I am getting ready for another international trip soon, so I thought I would slip a cartridge into the Dark Blue one. It was fun watching the ink travel to the nib. And I was very surprised at how smooth these pens write. They are small and lightweight, but feel balanced in my hand. So, I am sold. They are going with me on my trip!

For inexpensive demonstrator pens, they're great, aren't they? I like them better than the Preppies.

The plastic they're made of isn't as prone to cracking as the Preppie's. They're surprisingly good pens, I agree.
