First Nib Grind

Mihailo

Recommended Posts

Howdy, this was my first attempt at grinding my own nibs, I spent awhile on it using 12000 grit micro-mesh. The goal was to thin down a original Lamy F nib to that of a Japanese fine, however i ended up with a Architect ground XF nib with a F sized cross stroke.

The picture with the writing is that of all my current pens, the one smallest line in black is the ground nib.

Will try and upload photos of nib.

I guess it's the third one from the bottom. It looks good to me, congratulations.

I'm a big fan of architect nibs. I use my stub nibs with a 90 degree angle to get the same effect.

Looks awesome! How long does it take to grind with a 12000 grit micromesh? I've always wanted an architect nib but I don't want to pay $50+ for it. I have spare Lamy nibs that I could use...

I may have babied it a bit but it took me an hour or two to git it to shape and another hour for me to obsessively smooth and adjust it. Should go by quicker if you are not as picky.

also here should be some pics of the nib.
