Ink Color On The Marauder's Map In Harry Potter Movie

Does anyone know of an ink that would resemble most closely the ink that was used on the Marauder's Map in the Harry Potter movie? I really liked the color but there are so many different reds and browns out there. I'm trying to find an ink that would fit more closely to the color used on the map.

I love the Marauder's Map. Any deep reddish brown would do well. KWZ IG Red from my samples looks a fair match. J Herbin Caroube de Chypre base tone is similar (you'll have to deal with the sparkle).

I have an older bottle of a brown ink by Monte Blanc that was a limited Christmas ink of Joy some years back that is a bit darker, but a very nice brown color. Maybe try their brown ink. See if you can find a sample somewhere to try it!

I think the new J Herbin metallic brown would be a good fit.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I have a "thing" for sepia color ink. I have found Noodler's Beaver Brown very easy to live with.

If you can deal with its incredibly strange nature, Noodler's Whaleman's sepia might work.

Maybe use a dip pen with it though. Who knows.

If you could find it, Levenger Pommegranate.

Yeah, I still think this would be on the Maurder's map with a little ghost blue. Image from

The large retailer online named after a huge river shows they have Levenger in carts still, but a 1 month ship time. Just FYI.

Sometimes the color of the paper can affect a greatly in the result, so maybe an ivory paper with Diamine Oxblood?
