After 992, Jinhao Had 991

I've successfully eyedroppered several of these (the threading is long enough that silicone goo alone is sufficient - no O ring required), and have had three filled with BSB, Kung Te Cheng, and Mrs. Stuart's Laundry Bluing respectively for about a month, with everything trouble-free.

 

Thanks for bringing this up! I concur that these are great for using as eyedropper pens. They are much sturdier than the 992.

 

I'm searching for a perfect KTC pen so I'm curious to hear about how your 991 eyedropper with KTC works out.

BSB seems to have had a negative effect on my 992 and now it writes too dry to be good for anything.

I bought a couple ofJinhao 991 pens . After a few days , a crack appeared on the cap of one pen out of the blue ( see photo) . I am sure I did not drop it or did anything violent to this pen ! Anyone experienced this unfortunate event, or just me ?

Is that the transparent coffee?

 

I haven’t had a problem, though I don’t use the 991 as it’s thinner than I like, but my 992 in coffee broke before I could even get ink into it. It seems from what I’ve seen that the coffee plastic is especially prone to breaking

I have a coffee demonstrator 991 and it's tough as nails, but given the beating some of these pens seem to have in the factory, maybe this one had been abused prior and was just waiting to crack.

Yes, it's a transparent coffee Jinhao 991 .Other than this cracking issue, it is a good pen for its price . It writes smoothly & on the wet side which suites me just fine .

 

I also got cracking problems in the bottom parts of the tubes with my Jinhao 992 pens (i.e. 3 out of 4 on delivery !! ). This craking issue is certainly a manufacturing fault to be corrected in the future for sure .

 

Someone in this Forum claimed he could fit a Zebra flex nib on this Jinhao 992 , which is completely B.S. !! Just off the bat, the I.D. ( i.e. interior diameter) of the grip section of any pen accepting a Zebra flexnib must be at least .6mm ! In addition, there are threads inside the grip secrion of the Jinhao 992 !! ( i.e. to remove the sleeve + feed + nib, you have to unscrew the whole assembly, not pulling it out ! ) .
