This week, pick a waterproof or (the most) water-resistant ink you have. Show us how it reacts with water as well!

 

As usual, don't forget to share with us your choice of ink, your writing, drawing, doodling or anything with the ink in this thread. You can take a photo, make a scan, or even better, write letters and CRV reviews (what is a CRV?) and mail them to the many ink pals here. You are welcome to check back on this thread even when we've gone past this week.

...how the camera can make Sei Boku look mostly correct and the cream Rhodia Premium paper look gray, I have no idea. :(

 

ETA: Sorry, missed the "with water" instructions :blush: but oddly, the water made the color of the paper show better... :huh:

After the experiment below, I know this ink is water-resistant, but not waterproof (as noted on my challenge).

When I first turned the garden hose on the page, some black ink pooled then washed away. The second image shows a saturated, but very readable page.

Another day, I'll repeat this with a longer dry time and different papers for my curiosity.

I work in a kitchen, and like to use inks that don't run at all when wet. I only have 3 of those at the moment, De Atramentis Document Fog Grey and Fuchsia, and R&K Dokumentus Magenta (ok, I'm doing this from memory, and have had a glass of wine and am old, so forgive me if these names are a bit wrong, they sound about right though). I have a few other partly-waterproof inks (IG, Noodlers) but they all lose some of their pigment.

 

OK, I have just finished a fill of the Fuchsia, so I've gone with Fog Grey.

 

 

It's a pretty colour, quite blue.

This is after a soak in a bowl of water. No colour loss at all.

And just for fun, here it is after a rubdown with some bleach. The colour has certainly faded, but still very clear.

It's not a wildly exciting colour, but the waterproofocity is superb.

Lower left smudge was before water testing while the ink was still wet. I ran under the tap. Paper is a A5 This is for pad and my Jinhao 599 M stub for the pen.

I'll post later this week: I just learned about two inks in my arsenal that I did not even know are water resistant: 54th Massachusetts and X Feather, both of which I have partially full bottles of... so for me, this thread will teach me about a trait I never cared much enough about in an ink, but is nice to know...

I think I may have to add X-feather to the wishlist. I have resisted so far as I rarely use black ink, but it looks a handy one to have.
