What Is Wrong With Krishna Inks

I have seen rave reviews of Krishna inks here. But when you go to buy them, it seems they are not serious about selling their inks.

 

On the website of Krishna, very few inks are listed, and you can't even add them to cart.

 

On another website (the pen world), 14 inks are listed. What about other colors?

 

Is Dr Sreekumar not serious about this line of work? Does anyone know why it is so?

Dr Sreekumar has a medical life, also. That may do that he cannot do all as well as a business man that does only that. Maybe one day he can take car only of Krishna. Who knows?

I see only half the known Krishna inks at penworld also, and also when I see hotch potch websites, I wonder if they are really into the business. Right now i have enough stock, but would not mind buying some from them in the next round of ink purchases.

I have good experiences with The Pen World, and you can ask them about the other (not listed on their web site) inks as well. For me, they tried and succeeded in getting them...

I have ordered successfully from them TWICE, either last year or perhaps the year before & again perhaps 6 weeks ago. Their ordering system changed since the first order & when I couldn't complete my order this year, I emailed them for help. They responded promptly, explained their new policy & I received 35 bottles of ink from them.

 

I cannot speak to your problems of ordering the inks you wish but know that they have taken my orders, on TWO occasions & sent them from India to the USA both times in very good condition. I liked the ink well enough after the first order to pay shipping that was not insignificant. However, It was more reasonable than the initial order when shipping was twice the cost of the ink.

 

I am grateful to have received the inks both times & consider their Customer Service without equal; MANY well established companies do not make it as easy to purchase & receive inks as these Gentleman have for me. I consider Dr. Sreekumar to be a talented Artist for the inks he has created; his staff has accommodated me quite well with purchase & receipt of same.

I am truly thankful for your input, barking, and impressed by what you say about these folks. I will certainly be ordering from them once my stock depletes significantly.

 

Since you are such a heavy user of their inks, may I ask you this - did you find their inks feathering / bleeding more than other reputed global brands? I tried sampling Bronze Leaf. The color is gorgeous, but it did feather and bleed a little more than Private Reserve and Waterman.

I did not find any feathering, but will admit to using, Rhodia, Clairfontaine, Tomoe River or Oxford paper. There is bleed through only on the Rhodia Paper & I was still able to write on both sides of the paper, just the int from some of the colors on the reverse side. I should also say that I only use broad/and or Italic or stub nibs, so I am putting down a LOT of ink. The bleed through might not occur if I were using a fine or medium nib.

 

A couple of these colors are as pleasing to me as any of the Sailor inks I have used. The behavior of ALL the inks is as nice as any ink I use; a couple of the new formulations are very unique & I am grateful they continue to develop new inks.

 

I hope you will find them as pleasant as I have in use.

Thanks so much. I am relieved. Also, proud that someone from USA likes Indian inks so much. I will be ordering Bronze Leaf, Pacha Avari and Meadows Green. Do you have any recommendations? I go for mainly browns and greens.

Bronze Leaf is a very beautiful ink & one from my first order; I also love Browns & especially like from the Kot-Massi, Waterproof Series, EARTH, a very rich Golden Brown.

Really sorry you had trouble viewing the doctors creations. The doctor was working on the new line of Super Rich inks then. We've updated all the colours with new and more accurate swabs. Let us know if there is anything else you think that needs to be updated.

One of the exceptionally generous members on this thread sent me a few samples. I am really impressed with this ink and their rich colors!

 

He knows the color range that I most admire, and sent me "Sunburst," "Brown-Pink," "Pomegranate," and "The Earth." The first three are regular saturated inks, and the last one must be an iron-gall ink due to its dramatic color change as it dries. Here is how they look on Rhodia paper:

You have NO idea! The photo cannot capture the wild variation in colors and tones. You have to see it in person to believe it!

I will get it soon. It looks green though, and I always thought it was brown.

As as typical with iron-gall inks, the color depends completely on the paper and amount of ink flowing from the pen. With a wet flow, it is a rich brown, and a lighter flow makes it a golden-orange. The flow of the ink itself seems to be very good, but I have it in a pen with a very broad stub nib, so I cannot judge that aspect at the moment.

My friends went to India for brother-in-law's wedding. They tried many places.Although they had Blue and Black, they said everyone looked at them like they were nuts over requests for orange inks. They could find none in SW India.

No surprise there! Orange is one of the colors of the Indian flag —so it must be one of the national colors, yes? And if Dr. Sreekumar is making these inks by hand, they must be fairly rare, even in India!
