Spot On The Issue: Replica Of Pelikan 101 & 101N

I have one more pen to go which is almost impossible to find and if found having an incredible price. I guess I have to be contented with what I have now.

I thought of presenting these available pens as to see whether any discerning pairs of eyes here could spot on any issues to this pen.

Any takers? ;)

Ah, one slot left for the Toledo...

Such a gorgeous collection daeng! One by one by themselves I tend not to be excited by these, but you have presented them all together and as a collection I am impressed :notworthy1: Thank you!

There is of course the solid 14 K gold pen missing.

Sorry didn't spot anything wrong.....those are mostly 'new' pens?

What's with the 'silver' furniture next to the red tortoise pen?

Is the third on the left the pen you're talking about?

No, the 1935 Double White Gold is fine.

Hi Bobo

The missing pen from the reissuance of OOTT pens is Pelikan Toledo 1931.

Yes, all pens are 'new' & recommissioned by Pelikan as LE & SE pens. But there is defect from the pen.

The 'silver' furniture is the Pelikan Lizard Jubilee LE pen issued for the 175th anniversary of Pelikan in 2013 if not mistaken. This pen is fine.

Is the blue cap top discoloured?

Yes, spot on! The captop has been discoloured from lapis blue to purple. Also, the pen cap is shrinking as well. I have difficulty in closing it.

I've sent back the pen for warranty claim to Pelikan Malaysia. Not sure whether they can replace the cap since the pen was released quite sonetime. They said they will return to Pelikan Germany for direction.

I'm not sure if you use them regularly, but on my tortoiseshell brown I notice "rings/striations" most likely from the turning of the cap on the ink window. Or perhaps, also as I have experienced on mine but perhaps not yours, loose cap rings that are a little larger than the cap itself and rotate? (Also on my 101n tortoiseshell brown)

Also (could be a trick of the light) but the cap rings on the second from left don't appear to match the clip entirely

The third from the left: clip facing camera, the pattern between cap and barrel match up; clip to the side and they no longer match.

In a recent review of the latest red pen (extreme right-hand side), Sargetalon mentioned (on his blog The Pelikan's Perch) that he considered that the cap colour did not quite match the binde/barrel colour of

the pen and, looking at your photo, I wonder if this is also your complaint? There <does> appear to be a minor difference; but it could be due to the digital photo or it could be due to the thinness of the material? I wonder...

Thanks for your comments. There are no loose caprings.

Yes, it's just a trick of light.

Yes, the pattern did not match. I can re-allign the pattern by screwing back the cap at the right 'spot'.

Your comment is correct, Christoper. The second photo will reveal clearly the mismatch (slight?) of the red colour between cap (lighter) and barrel (darker).

About the Lapis, that same discoloration affected my OMAS Lucens re-release, and also a blue celluloid Paragon, which has gone from royal blue to deep purple blue. Will we gradually see that new celluloid doesn't stand the test of time?

About the red tortoise, one day I'll kick myself for not having bought it while it was still affordable!!
