Platinum 3776 Or Pilot 74 Custom

I think the pens you like in the cheaper range of either one will give an indication which you will like more and should go for first - because you will have both. That has been my experience. I like Platinum, big nib, wider body and feel on paper. And you should have a loupe because I thought my 3776 was scratchy but it just needed a touch up and it is now a smoooth pen.

I have two Platinum 3776 Demonstrators. They are my go-to pens. They never dry out and put down a perfect amount of ink. They have this sorta snap and seal spring mechanism that completely seals the nib so that's why they don't dry out. I'm pursuing my MFA in Creative Writing and I take lots of notes in class. My pen has to work. The Platinum's never let me down. I also like the ink colors available in Platinum cartridges.
