This is a fairly quick review, so that I can get up some reviews of the 8 new Diamine inks for you to look at. I haven't tried them all on lot's of different papers yet, but that will come later.

Today I've been writing with them in my cheap Silvine Notepad. It's fairly absorbent paper, so dry times are quick. It's a white paper so I find it easier to get the ink colours accurate in Photoshop.

I noticed that all 8 of these new ink samples have wet flow, good lubrication, some shading, no sheen. They clean up very easily from skin and pens. I've had these inks in these various pens for at least 2 weeks now, and they all start up immediately with no problems.

Sorry, I haven't yet tested for water resistance, and I will do that soon.

These inks will be available from Diamine in the 150th Anniversary range bottles as well as packs of 20 cartridges. I don't yet have any bottles to show you.

Nice one. Looks like Bilberry?

I will do that comparison. :) I thought of it as an attractive 'dusty lilac' shade when I first wrote with it. Maybe more subtle than Bilberry if you see what I mean.

I like this one, darker than most lilacs. Thank you.

I can see me ending up with enough triangular bottles from this range and Callifolio to fill the circle and then having to find a small 'lazy susan' or similar turntable... The posters on here are a terribly bad influence on a man with little sense and little self control when it comes to purchases. B)

Thanks for the quick review Chrissy, aren't the colours beautiful! I'll be adding to the melee shortly. I loved the duskiness of Lilac Night and its deep hues.

I think I've been to harsh on these blues and purples. In my humble opinion they look better in your separate reviews than in the first scan from the announcement post, it most likely depends on the quality of each scan and/or paper. The thing is, I don't think that blues are ugly, I simply have a lot of them and I'm a little bit bored with such hues.

I find it much more difficult to colour-match swabs from a page full of different colours than to colour match each one separately.

You're welcome :) I'm going to change papers for my next reviews, to see if I can show the shading better on a less absorbent paper. :)

You're welcome. :) Someone had made a wooden turntable for the first 8 colours. I can't remember who it was sadly.

I understand you :) Sometimes it is even hard to get accurate colours of both paper and ink, not to mention multiple colours of ink.

Oh this does look nice. Thanks for the review... and not. :headsmack:

(Anyone know how soon these inks are going to be available in the US? There are several colors which look very tempting.)

This ink is a really difficult colour to match on photos and scans. It's more of a lilac-black type and less like Diamine Bilberry than I first thought. I think I've matched it this time:

You're welcome. :) I'm sorry I don't know when US suppliers will get them, but I believe you will be able to buy them directly from Diamine.

I spent a few hours with Pages and Photoshop, but I'm no expert, so I'm not sure of the best way to 'colour-match'.

My method is: I scan them in and first use a curves layer to get the paper white. Then, still in the curves layer, it takes a bit of moving different lines around until the colours on my screen look exactly like what I have on the paper. Sometimes I also have to make a selection of one of the comparison colours, and redo another curves layer on that one separately, because it's different on screen. Unfortunately, sometimes when I reduce the image size for uploading, sometimes the colours can look slightly grainy, which changes them slightly.

I wish I had a scanner that would scan ink colours accurately!

Thanks for the preview of these upcoming inks... I like this one!

You're welcome. :) I predict some people will be on the fence with this one. Especially if they already own Sailor Jentle Shigure. ;)

My bottle of Shigure is long gone. This looks a little lighter, less black, so the color will be more evident in a wet pen. Definitely ordering this one!
