Hello! I am delighted to find this site and resource! I am a certified Apple technician who has an appreciation for well crafted, hand made items. I recently acquired a Waterman Ideal 0512 ½ VP pen and it has piqued my curiosity. I am looking forward to learning about these pens and sharing what I find with others. Thank you!

Welcome !

It's a bit ironic that I am discussing pre-digital writing via laptop. I find writing by hand to be therapeutic , in our digital world.

Fountain pen :

Sharp stick on clay tablets. Sharpened sticks with berry juice on scraped lamb skin, then papyrus. For centuries, bird feather quill was used. The metal quill followed. Louis Waterman patented the self-regulating ink feed that we find on all fountain pens. George S. Parker advanced the self-filling ink pen, that has a self-contained mechanism that draws ink into the pen reservoir. Without moving parts, the fountain pen turns the ink flow on and off.

(If my narrative is not 100% true, it ought to be ! :lticaptd: )

It's a big fuss, just to achieve controlled leakage of ink onto paper.

I might have a spare barrel for your twin cap.

You should come to a Pen Club or Posse at the far end of your BART line.

Hello and welcome to FPN, from Cape Town, South Africa.

To sit at one's table on a sunny morning, with four clear hours of uninterruptible security, plenty of nice white paper, and a [fountain] pen - that is true happiness!

Welcome to the FPN.

Nice pen you have. I don't have any vintage Watermans, however, I have several modern ones and really like them.

Enjoy your stay here.

If your out-go is more than your income,

Then your up-keep.

May be your Down-falll!!!

Check the Club section for announcement from the Pen Posse.

I "think" the next one will be on May 21, in Millbrae.

As FB said, it is a short walking distance from the Millbrae BART station.
