Week #19 / 7 May: Week Of Europe - 2017 Weekly Ink Project

Recommended Posts

The Force was not strong last week. This week, choose an ink from Europe, or a colour that represents Europe.

As usual, don't forget to share with us your choice of ink, your writing, drawing, doodling or anything with the ink in this thread. You can take a photo, make a scan, or even better, write letters and CRV reviews (what is a CRV?) and mail them to the many ink pals here. You are welcome to check back on this thread even when we've gone past this week.

Click here to read more about this community project. Links to the two previous links can be found there too.

For EUROPE, I went with the great European wine tradition as my inspiration. Here is Diamine's MERLOT:

Ha, I didn't know about the banana thing :) Maybe it's a joke, I don't know. That ketchup, though... I don't actually think people use it instead of tomato sauce. They rather dip some regular pizza in ketchup as they eat (or spread it on the top). I have experienced four ways of eating pizza: with no additional sauce, with ketchup (mostly the thicker, 'American' pizza), with garlic sauce or with olive (mostly the thinner, 'Italian' pizza).

I have a couple of KWZ samples, but I've been doing some spring cleaning lately and now I can't remember where my syringes are :headsmack: Good old disorder was way better.

Most of my inks are European. I can't decide which one I should choose.

This is surprisingly well-behaved ink. Despite seeming wet (or perhaps lubricated? I'm not good at distinguishing yet), it doesn't bleed or feather on 20-lb copy paper, even from this wet 1.1 stub - I was sure it would just soak right through, but it's fine, and in my cheap-o WalMart composition book, it hardly shows through. I'm gonna have to see if I can find a more interesting Visconti color and see if it's as well-behaved.

The banana deal sounded like it was customary only in a few specific areas. And I can't imagine ketchup on pizza, with or without tomato sauce, but I come from a place where people put barbecue sauce on pizza, so I can't really judge.

I love your handwriting!

Thanks!

The red is diamine Matador, my fave red, and still made in Europe...for now.

On the pizza front..Ketchup, barbeque sauce, garlic sauce...pffft!

We deep fry our pizza in batter. :yikes: You can actually feel your veins hardening as you eat it. :gaah:

Nice handwriting :) I enjoy Eclat de Saphire, it's great ink.

Thanks visvamitra

Yes, I'm becoming quite fond of it too.

I've had it a couple of years and didn't really bother with it much until I used it on different papers, which gave it a new lease of life.
