One Pen One Month Challenge

I did something similar for many years. Before I found FPN I only had two pens. A Waterman Phileas with fine and a fine nibbed Lamy Al Star.... Could I go back? I don't know. It has been 5 years since I did two. (2012)

I have done "one blade for February" for the last two or three years DE shaving. Perhaps I could do it if I could change inks. Two would certainly be easier. A lot easier.

I would consider doing this if I wasn't already trying to do the "Ink of the Week" threads. And because I just got a whole mess of samples from Anderson Pens and Vanness last week.

Ironically, before I found my way here, I basically only had one fountain pen, and only used Quink Permanent Blue cartridges.

Of course the plus would be feeling the compulsion to buy a new pen and new ink to do the one month with. There's always the need for a good excu ..., er, good reason, to go ahead and get that new pen.

Another plus would be having a whole month to clean everything else up real well and get things in order.

Of course on the downside, one pen? Let me count the downsides ...

I'm not committing just yet, though I'd probably find it easier than most. I think we might have to make it a contest with the winner taking a collected pot of cash but then being responsible for paying for one-ink-only trauma therapy for amberleadavis.

Each pen has a dedicated ink and I can't imagine writing with ONE INK for a whole month ...

Yeah, this is the challenge as I see it but narrowing the choice down to three inks was surprisingly easy; choosing which one of those will be the hard part.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

I could do this with my first Parker 51 and Montblanc Midnight Blue. Will I do it? Perhaps.

I've done one-pen-one-week challenges before, and even that's super hard. I reckon I could do it though. Because I use super broad nibs for my class notes I'd have to use a piston filler or eyedropper, as I can write a converter filled pen dry with those nibs and the amount of notes I take.

I might do it for the month of May. I want to do it during class, so I'll get the most out of it.

I won't be able to do this challenge, I like to have at least two different colours for note taking :D But then again this August will be my dreaded med school entrance exam so... I'll be using one ballpoint pen for the entire month XD

Easier than you think. I just bought a lever-fill Wearever. It is for the month of August 2019.

Ok, so it seems we have a number of folk interested -so let's try it our.

It's a piece of fun and we don't want anyone losing grades or jobs over this - so if you have to use an alternative for work that's fine.

So, the challenge is to use just one fountain pen for a month, to see how pens, and us can cope with it. Remember, pencils are also allowed - and we might see folk's changing their behaviour - do you use an FP for all tasks, or do you use FP all the time. I just about remember doing drafts in pencil and then using pen for the neat copy.

As we go along - let us know how it is going. Are your cartridges lasting out, or are frequent changes useful? Does a piston filler really give you more bang for your buck with ink - and does the pen change over time - do you notice any differences in the characteristics or the way you use it? If the pen doesn't work - then change it.

I'll post something here for the start of the challenge, closer to the time, and we will see how it goes.

I'm going to start mine at the start of May. I just don't do enough writing in August, as I'm a student out for the summer.

I'm out

I have to fill out NCR forms & write on stuff at work that makes ballpoint pen ink feather.

I have enjoyed using my Parker 51 exclusively.

I'm in for a Parker "51" and Iroshizuku Asa Gao.

Lately, my rotation of pens slowed. I wasn't in the mood to clean and store when empty. So I began filling the Parker "51" Specials and regular "51." I may go with my best Speical and be good for the month.

sandy, just to clarify, we're not limited to one ink are we? or are we going full-monk, one pen, one ink, one frozen dinner with water for the whole month?

I'm in. I just got a Conid Bulkfiller so if I stick an EF nib on it I may not even need to refill for the whole month either.

I use a vintage pen at home and a modern one (1990's or newer) at work. I can't take a month off, so this would mean not using any of my vintage pens for a month.

No, I don't think so.

I have a hard enough time using one pen per PAGE, and I have even more pens on order. :P

Maybe if they weren't all such recent arrivals I'd have more willpower. Right now I don't. :)
