Asa Athlete Translucent Version

Recommended Posts

Some time ago I posted some pics of this pen sent by Mr. Subbu of ASA Pens. Now it is finally in my hands, and the only thing I can say is PERFECTION. The long feed and section on this pen is advertised as preventing burping, and it is 100% true. The stock #6 ASA nib is very nice and smooth, When capped, cap and body are absolutely flush, and when posted it posts nicely. This was my first but I am sure not my last pen from ASA. Many thanks to Mr. Subbu. Here are some pics. PS: I am sorry for the handwriting

Hello Tintafuego,

Thank you for showing the inner workings of one of my favorite Asa pens. As you may now guess, I have an ebonite Athlete - two in fact, bought when they just came out, and they are two of my favorite pens. Absolutely troublefree. And beautiful. And your version shows how he did it. Thanks, and congratulations! I think you're right about the number of the nib; I have an Ambitious nib of that number in both. So I will have to see if I can get a few of the new ASA nibs for my pens that came out before that option existed...

I see your location now announces Lima; any luck finding fellow aficionados? Well it would take a little time of course... But do let us know once you're settled in. And good luck!

Hi mhguda!

Some weeks ago I found a store in the San Isidro district of Lima that sells Lamy. Actually, it is the Lima branch of Arte Nostro, the stores where I bought my inks from in Santiago de Chile. So, some light at the end of the tunnel

Hi Tintafuego, you must feel right at home with those people! did you tell them your connection?

This brings back memories from those days when I was first getting into computers. There was a store here that sold Radio Shack computers, and before long there was a sort of informal club forming around them... you would more or less know that whenever you checked in, there would be some others with a similar interest, and we'd get to talking... at some point, we even formed an offical club with regular meetings, shared subscriptions to magazines, shared software, and the whole lot... and it all grew spontaneously. Maybe something like that might develop around your Arte Nostro?

Anyways, good luck. And enjoy the Athlete. Great idea to get it in transparent acrylic!

Hi Mhguda,

Lovely pen and thanks for sharing. If this is your first pen from ASA then you wont be disappointed if you order more from Subbu. He is a master pen maker.

Regards

Srinivas

Hi gudasrninivas - I think you meant Tintafuego here! I agree, have many pens from ASA and all are a pleasure to use.
