Aurora Optima Rossa

Has anyone purchased the new Optima color, Aurora Optima Rossa?

When it was announced, I thought it would be a hot commodity since (as far as I can tell) the 75th anniversary pen in the same finish was very popular. But since then, I haven't seen any threads about it.

I am very curious to see it in person, and waiting for my local pen store to get it in stock. It's a flashy color for sure, but oh so fun! So far, the only places on the web I've seen pictures are:

and on the nibsmith.com.

Maybe I should re-title the thread--does anyone have any thoughts on pen? since no one has one yet, and few have seen it?!

Are you excited about its release?

I have only seen the pictures at sellers' sites. Hope to see one "in the flesh" one of these days, but I've blown my budget for several months. So, as much as I like the Auroras I have, this one will have to wait.

Is it a limited edition?

I'm somewhat interested, but it is a pricey pen and I have overspent my pen budget so far this year.

My understanding is that this is a new color, added to the auroloide Optima line. I have a red 75th Anniversary pen. I don't think the new Rossa model uses the same material. Is there official word that it is the same?

Nice pen. I have an Optima in black, Nero Perla, burgundy, 365, demonstrator ... so that's enough for me.

I got a chance to see it in flesh yesterday at the Fountain pen hospital Expo. I can't remember the 75th anniversary pen well enough to compare, but the color looks fairly similar. It looks a tad darker (only a smidgen!) than the photos suggest, only because I imagine the light bounces off the pen with photos. It is a very vivid red, with that subtle, flakey pattern of shades that I personally really like (like some of the blue Optimas).

It is not a limited edition. I applaud them for making this part of the standard line, and hope that it does well! I'm not sure if I can get away with writing with a pen that flashy, but if so, I plan to get one at some point when I can.

Was not impressed until I saw it in person at the Philadelphia Pen Show this year. I thought it was brilliant in real life and that photos really don't do it any justice at all. Definitely looking to add this to the collection.

I've had the pen for about three weeks now.

It's a great looking pen, a very smooth nib, but writes dry. I'm going to have to send it back to the retailer and have the ink flow adjusted.

I liked this model so much I went out and bought a blue model. Though both have fine nibs, the Rossa version writes like an extra-fine and the blue version writes like a medium.

Beautiful pic, Dave! Shame about the variability of the nibs. I was also frustrated when I got a second Aurora Optima fine nib that wrote nothing like a fine...

Forgive me for this post, but I didn't know what else to do. I am trying to get a hold of oregano about some inks she had for sale, but her mailbox must be full because the site tells me she can't receive messages.
