My 2 cents worth:

Point your browser to https://www.lacouronneducomte.nl/index_en.html

Then email or call Dennis and tell him what you are interested in. He will help you get exactly what you want, and you will save a considerable amount of money.

(No financial interest, just a very satisfied customer. BTW, if you order a Montblanc from an overseas authorized dealer like LCdC, you do not lose your warranty as you do with Pelikan.)

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.

I have the chance to buy a pre owned (almost un-used) 149 with a M nib. I have a 144 Ultra Black in my collection with a F nib which I'm satisfied with. I wonder if it will be possible to change the M nib with a F nib if I think it's to broad, and how much will it cost (£/$/€)?

Nibs swaps are about $300 USD from MB out of the free exchange period. Getting a nib meister to grindo it to an F is about $40 and a better bet, especially if you want to add line variation.

Oh, that's expensive. Do you think the pen looks ok?

The 149 looks fine. The inkwell was probably not part of the set. What is the price?

Ok thanks. I have to ask him about the inkwell. $698.

The 149 nib is a little soft and very wet. Mediums are still too wet for me.

Since you are in Norway you cannot get as good a deal as we can in the Us buying from the EU.

That said, the price still seems a bit high to me. I would contact La Couronne du Comte and see the price withtheir King's Day sale code of 15% off. That way you get a new pen, a warranty and the exact nib size you want. You can also get rose gold or platinum trim.

Otherwise have some patience and you can get a better deal for a used pen from a place like this or another similar site.

$300 for a nib swap seems very steep but most things MB are pretty spendy. A new M1000 nib unit is around the same price (more or less depending on the vendor) but that's a nib unit and not a swap (I assume MB won't let you keep the old nib). A nibmeister is probably the best way to go (as mentioned above), just make sure you get a wide nib to start with. And since MB doesn't label their nib sizes you wouldn't have to worry about having a fine nib that's marked B.
