Anybody Know What This Is Called?

This was attached to a tiny ringtop pen, and I'm sure there's a technical term for it. I hope that someone here knows it and is willing to spill.

The spring ring or the thing it's attached to? 'Cuz I'm not sure what you'd call that bit.

The thing it's attached to: there's a paucity of information about these obsolete little bits of thing.

It is called a ribbon slide. They are still in production, though typically no longer used to help attatch run top pens to a ribbon. The ribbon was worn around the neck of the user in the manner of a langard.

I think it's a lanyard holder so that you can attach something to it (like a pen) in order to wear it around your neck.

They're difficult little objects to find just by themselves: I recently bought a wrecked Peter Pan just for the clasp and slide. I've been on jewelry findings sites and learned nothing. You know you're dealing with obsolete technology when you can't even find a name for it.
