Hi,

I'm looking some insights into the following pen . I recently acquired this one and I ahve not been able to find too much information about it. it is a cork piston fill pen. Full gold overlay and 14 K semiflex nib that writes like an extrafine without pressure and about 1.0mm with pressure.

Any info is greatly appreciated ! :)

It is a beautiful pen, obviously an earlier model than any Ancora I have ever seen for sale. Perhaps influenced by the Parker 51 & Aurora 88's?

The Calamus came right after the Lusso and shared some common design points. The Calamus had two different nib styles that draw from a Parker 51. This was the last successful series for Ancora before they went downhill. A common story among many Italian pen companies of that era. The early 50's were the last hurrah before market forces killed most of the companies off.

It is very unfortunate how things worked out for some of those companies, Where the two different stiles the hooded and semi hooded nibs? I personally think they are great examples of the era.

Here is the Calamus next to a back lusso witha clear striaded body.

The Calamus came in two versions. One with a full hood like a 51 and the half/semi hooded one like in your picture.
