New Montblanc Ink

Officially -- as I just heard from Hamburg -- the new ink is out. Again, a LE belonging to the corresponding pen. This time, as part of the UNICEF collection. It is a blue-turquoise ink. Hoping that Montblanc will find it to be in their own interest, it looks like this....

Hi,

While enjoy inks that straddle the imaginary line between Blue and Turquoise, I have no idea what MB is up to.

I took a wee shufti at their LE 'Ink of Friendship''* and found nothing special in that bottle, though it is being used - not sold or gifted.

But in that range, I'll look to the exquisite Pelikan Topaz or for a more floral aspect one of the iroshizuku inks.

As ever, I look forward to any number of Members' Ink Reviews / firsthand experience to winkle out any Majik...

The price sticker is on the outside of the bottle, so let's see what's inside the bottle before we shy away - you first - I'm on remote assignment.

Bye,

S1

That's right. If we do take a look at the above-mentioned site's URL, we see:

http://www.montblanc.com/en-us/collection/refills/writing-accessories/116223-ink-bottle-unicef-blue-50ml.html.

That makes 39 US-Dollars.

For Germany ð http://www.montblanc.com/de-de/collection/refills/writing-accessories/116223-ink-bottle-unicef-blue-50ml.html

says 35 Euros.

For the UK ð http://www.montblanc.com/en-gb/collection/refills/writing-accessories/116223-ink-bottle-unicef-blue-50ml.html

says 30 Pounds.

And if you're all that hot about a cartridge or 8, take a closer look at such sites....

No wonder the boss of the B&M told me the price of MB inks was going to climb.

Out of my range...E35....and for a tiny little bottle.

No go!!!  ....and guess at E-35 I won't buy the Dark Saffron either coming out later either.

I thought GvFC's ink was expensive at E35 I think it was; could have been E30 for 75ml.

I had no interest in C d'A new and then very expensive inks....having gotten the older inks that were moaned as expensive in the States for normal E-8 here in Germany. (Could have gotten more and sooner but believed the folks from the States....so of course I got them when they were discontinued. Murphy never sleeps.)

Well, I'll be looking on line for inks from the very many new companies (of the last 4 or so years) or having my B&M order....they may be able to get at wholesale and make an Euro. Got to keep feeding my B&M.

In he just got in Diamine Glitter inks...those are next.

Looks like I'll have to get what ever old MB inks I like, before they come out with the lead crystal shoe and want as much as GvFC.

In reference to P. T. Barnum; to advise for free is foolish, ........busybodies are ill liked by both factions.

Ransom Bucket cost me many of my pictures taken by a poor camera that was finally tossed. Luckily, the Chicken Scratch pictures also vanished.

The cheapest lessons are from those who learned expensive lessons. Ignorance is best for learning expensive lessons.

I know that some will disagree, but personally, this feels like the ink equivalent to Montblanc's Gandhi pen. I wouldn't be surprised if they get some criticism for it, given their use of the UNICEF name.

And I really shouldn't discuss politics here, so I'll edit my original post to leave it at that.

If Montblanc really is going to more than double their LE ink price from now on, I don't see myself purchasing Montblanc ink anymore.

It's like Bung Box. Since their price increase I don't even care for them anymore.

I'll buy that.

As I understood Montblanc is donating to Unicef and a part of the price we pay for the Unicef-Collection-products is going directly to Unicef.

On the website is written that Montblanc did donate over 10 million US$ until now.

Well as Lapis showed it's 50 ml and not usual 3o ml. Still the price increase seems outrageous. I hope their 30 / 35 ml LE inks will remain in the sub 20 euros price range. Does anyone know when they plan to interoduce Dark Saffron?

Hi,

Not to be overly critical, but if MB claims to donate to UNICEF, I'd rather it be voluntary at point of sale: one chit for the ink, and another voluntary chit going directly to UNICEF. Get rid of the cost of administrative overhead.

(Note: UNICEF seems to be relatively OK https://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&orgid=4617#

Mini-rant: I am tired of big corps holding out beggar's bowls and expecting customers to donate to their hand-picked charities.Perhaps a better start would be to cut their executives' salary to a minimum living wage, and donate the difference to UNICEF until the last bottle of LE ink is sold: issue a good ink, it'll sell-out quickly; issue a middle-of-the-road ink, it could take forever to sell-out - an incentive to issue amazing LE inks.

Also the Badger and Blade exclusive Noodlers ink Benevolent Badger Blue, which supported breast cancer research, is out of stock - so who dropped the ball on that? Bah!

I am dismayed...

Bye,

This is almost exactly what I was thinking when I first saw this news :P

P.S. Didn't know about the Noodler's ink for breast cancer! Thanks for the info.
