Not quite on mine - the end of the cap is polished but the end of the barrel is not! But actually, I quite like that - it emphasises the hand-finished nature of the pen and shows the difference between the matt and polished finishes. Plus it's only noticeable once you go looking for it.

Overall the pen is delightful - will try to post pictures later. Many thanks to all involved.

Thanks a lot bbs. This would happen in Premium ebonites. Eager to see the pictures

Absolutely thrilled to welcome my latest Ranga Group Buy pen into the world - pictured here between the Model 5 (which is an absolute beast, in the best possible way!) and the Regular Bamboo:

I ordered a couple of black oxide nibs with the pen - pictured here with the 'F' nib installed:

Have now had a chance to use my new Ranga and must say that I am very impressed with the craftsmanship and quality of this pen. This is my first fountain pen that I must use with the cap unposted but even then the pen feels very balanced. I loved watching the video that shows how much care is taken when making these pens. Can't wait for the next group buy to get my hands on the demonstrator model.

I have just received the pen, an eyedropper demonstrator, and it looks gorgeous.

But I’m having some issues with the ink flow. It begins to write correctly but after a few words gets dry. I have to tap it with my fingers and I manage to write but only another few words.
The ink channel in the section is very narrow as it can be seen on this photo

But anyway I think that we should see a shadow of ink flowing through the section channel when the nib is downwards. Just where the arrow indicates in the next picture. But there is no continuity of ink between the barrel and the section

Is there any other with the same problem? Am I doing something wrong? How can I solve this issue?

Mine suffers from the same problem and some one else posted higher about this issue. Like yours, mine is a demonstrator and so easy to see and also to see it fill the fore-chamber with a tap at the back.

Oh man Im so excited to get mines...

Kindly try to remove the nib and refit it .. I am usre there is a vaccum created there and that is the reason why ink is not flowing

You mean removing the nib (and Feed) or removing the section.

Thank you

Thanks Vaibhav for the tip. Any ideas for how to remove feed and nib? It seems very tight and I have not yet succeeded in removing it. I saw one suggestion on another discussion which advised using pliers. Is that advisable?

OK here things get weird. It should be noted I have another Ranga eye dropper (as opposed to c/c version used as an eye dropper), which if any thing lets too much ink through. I tried your recommendation - no joy. Tried a number of variations no joy. Now is the interesting bit.

  • If I remove the nib and put the section under the tap, water flows through in either direction.
  • If I put the section back in, WITHOUT the nib and feed in, and hold the pen with the nib slot downwards, so ink should drop on to the cloth below, nothing flows through the hole.

I'm wondering the hole is slightly too small, but I assume Mr Kandam Snr uses the same drill tool for all pens, so can't see why this would be the reason.
