Sealing Wax Recommendation

Recommended Posts

I am a long time wax sealer aficionado. I can't locate the thread which has a list of places you can purchase the wax seal sticks. I am in the USA so the places I am seeking must be located in the USA. I am almost out of my present supply and in need or replenishing before I run out completely.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions. The only items of correspondence I do not wax seal before posting and even pay extra to mail are bills, creditors don't need special treatment. :)

Hi FPLady,

You might want to check out Nostalgic Impressions website.

They have a lot of options for wax. Sticks with and without wick. Authentic brittle kind and a more supple version than can survive the USPS sorting machines.

I like buying it in beads and melting it myself in a brass scoop over an oil lamp all available at this site.

The shiniest and most impressive seals are ones made with authentic "King's wax".

No affiliation. Just a happy client.

Thanks, I will do. I am vigilantly trying to find my long handle lighter. Working with a Bic to light wax is beginning to be annoying to my fingers. Thanks for the suggestion. :)

Atelier Gargoyle wax is quite wonderful, in addition to Goulet pens, you can also find them at a handful of retailers listed on their site. I have ordered from Lightbringer Designs, and the wax was packaged and sent quickly.

J Herbin Flexible (supple) wax is great too, very similar to A. Gargoyle in regards to resilience through the mail, but does lack the color diversity that A. Gargoyle possess. Jet Pens, Goulet, and a few others sell this wax.

My favorite traditional wax is from Abraxas, unfortunately they do not seem to have a supplier in the US currently, but if you can find a reasonable international supplier I wouldn't hesitate. They are not safe for mail use at least without an outside envelope covering them though.

FP Ink Orphanage-Is an ink not working with your pens, not the color you're looking for, is never to see the light of day again?!! If this is you, and the ink is in fine condition otherwise, don't dump it down the sink, or throw it into the trash, send it to me (payment can be negotiated), and I will provide it a nice safe home with love, and a decent meal of paper! Please PM me!For Sale: TBA

 • 4 weeks later...

at a pinch I have melted down wax crayons and used them as a wax seal, not as good as dedicated sealing wax but it worked and you can get lots of colours for very little outlay.
