Wondering if this visit is what inspired the Soennecken plant to be targeted by Allied bombers this same year. I don't know enough German or enough history to offer any opinion... Someone might want to buy this leaflet and post a good clear big scan of it.

Somehow that cute little eagle that showed up on the Soennecken pen caps in the 1930s doesn't look quite so lovable anymore.

I think it is very hard to infer motives for people under such extraordinary circumstances. Some people (in and out of Germany) were genuine enthusiasts for all or part of the Nazi program. Some chose to offer public support either to gain an advantage or to avoid what could have been horrendous risks to themselves or innocent others. Some chose to be quiet. Some chose to oppose, openly or covertly, often at horrible cost. But with so much secrecy and subterfuge and so much at stake back then, it seems to me very hard to make blanket judgments today. Better to hope we never find ourselves in a situation that helps us to understand those times.
