Review Of Pentaloons Pen Roll

Recommended Posts

About a week ago I commissioned a custom pen wrap from Pentaloons.

She does amazing, high-quality work. I loved browsing her store to see all the fabric options. She's got an eye for goood fabric combinations!

I had all sorts of demands-- 10 slots, contrasting tie, monogram in the same color as the tie, and which way the herringbone fabric chevrons pointed. She always got back to me quickly, let me know what options were available, checked in to make sure she had what I wanted correct, and showed me multiple combinations that I might like. She was very professional to work with.

She finished my wrap within 24 hours of finalizing details, and it arrived a few days later. I was out of town, so I've had to wait to see it! Everything came out perfectly, just as I described to her.

Here are some photos showcasing her craftsmanship.

Dimensions: 22.5" long by 7" wide (13" wide with flap open). Pockets are approximately 2.75" wide.

Pentaloons is going on my list of preferred vendors. I'll be certain to take a look for storage options as my collection grows, or if I need a gift for a pen friend.

(I am not affiliated in any way withe Pentaloons. I paid for everything myself and am just a very happy customer!)

Thank you for the review! This motivated me to place an order for one of these today.

I really like the color combo you chose, and the guest appearance from your cat.

the economical penster - celebrating inexpensive pens!

Really nice color combination. Seems like a really well-made product. :)

I bought my wife a kimono-style wrap from her for Christmas. It's really nice.

I'm glad she was able to add the embroidery machine. I wanted a monogram on the one I bought at Christmas, but she regretted to tell me that she didn't have the ability to do it yet.

Thank you! I'm glad a good artisan is getting a little more business. And my cat was very eager to "help" me with the photos. :)

It was the monogram that finally sold me on it, actually. I had browsed her shop a few months ago, and finally came back to it when I was ready to buy. I saw she added monograms and knew I wanted to make an order.

I love the name, the play-on-word is very nice :)

I also bought her one (but I store my hooks in it, not my FP :D ) , she does great work indeed, the seams are perfect. And the pattern is smart. I'm jealous :D

One pen roll, two pen rolls, three pen rolls ... So many pen rolls ! Do you want one ?

my tiny shop is open and you can have a closer look on my website to see my cotton (and sometimes silk) OOAK penrolls.

I got my sister a Pentaloons wrap for Christmas. She loved it.

...So much ink, so little penmanship....

I just bought two of these cases, a stunning purple velvet 6 pen wrap with a satin lining and a custom 10 pen wrap in grey blue tweed with an orange silk lining. When I asked if the silk was colorfast (I have several white pens), Amy soaked the silk and wrapped a white acrylic blank in it overnight! Communication with Amy was great. Most importantly the wraps are beautifully made and the fabrics are gorgeous. They are even prettier in person.

These are really nice. After reading the review and visiting the site, I sent the link to my wife. I told her that I wasn't sure any of the items currently for sale would suit her, but I figured she could see what was available style-wise, and contact the shop owner to see if there was any possibility of a custom item. A short while later, she called in from the other room to thank me for the link and say she'd ordered one of the two-pen purses. So, I guess the items in the shop met with her approval. :D

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
