Can You Identify This Gold Mechanical Pencil?

Here's an image of it.

The 'cap' piece on the end rotates to push out the lead smoothly. It is marked "J.E.A. April 1942" which leads me to believe this was a present for a "J.E.A." - I'm unsure who this was but I think they were in my family.
The marking on the top says "ROLLED GOLD MADE IN ENGLAND"
Interestingly I have found this forum post with a pencil that looks fairly similar. Some of the pattern matches with my Swan pen, and the clip in the forum image looks the same as my Swan pen. I wonder if they were related or even in a set. The dates don't match up though. I've also found this ebay listing for a pencil that looks to be the same model.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Looks very similar to a Yardley styled pencil. They are renowned for having those "knob" like endings. And apparently so is Swan, Wahl, and Eversharp. However, yours is stepped, not curved. Those "knob" endings usually have the body surface curve outward to form the knob, as opposed to the stepping shown on your example. So it may be some other brand. But it does look like early 20th century design.

Is there a clip on yours?

Here are some photos of a similar Yardley pencil:

Here's Wahl:

Actually, I think I found an auction for a pencil that looks more like yours:

There's plenty of pictures on that one. Has very similar ending with that "step". But alas, the seller was not revealing of the brand.
