Poor Ink Flow Through The Nib

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I got a new pen (Aurora Optima) and flushed first, and filled the pen with Iroshizuku (Murasaki-Shikibu), but the ink flows poorly.

I then flushed the pen again, but same result.

Is there anything I am mising in order to get the ink flowing?

It did not happen to me when I got Montblanc 144...

Do you think I should send the pen to a nib meister?

If I need to send to the nib meister, might as well smooth out the scratchy Aurora nib and grind to medium-fine from medium, but wanted to see if I can even write with it first...

Thank you for your input!

Dream, take one step at a time and achieve. :)

Well, not quite enough information. Did you use an ink cleaner or pen flush agent when you flushed? A bit of detergent and some ammonia helps a lot. Look up cleaning pens on the network here if you haven't heard of it. I have an Aurora Tu that is real fussy unless it is cleaned very thoroughly to remove any old ink in the feed channels.

Have you asked the supplier that you bought the pen from for advice? I love Aurora pens but they can be fussy, especially at first. Once you get them going, they work like a house on fire, though.

Best of luck,

Yours,
Randal

From a person's actions, we may infer attitudes, beliefs, --- and values. We do not know these characteristics outright. The human dichotomies of trust and distrust, honor and duplicity, love and hate --- all depend on internal states we cannot directly experience. Isn't this what adds zest to our life?
