What Is The Rarest Vintage Parker Fountain Pen?

Okay, I'll bite. What's so special about it? Because it looks like a Brown Pearl to me.... Is it that that color isn't normally found in earlier models? (I'm guessing that because it appears from the blind cap size and shape to be a Lockdown or Speedline model. I mean, if it had that blind cap and was Azure Blue Pearl... yeah, that would be pretty unusual.

Look a bit closer. Second one I've seen. There are flat spots on the barrel. . .

Is that a manufacturing flaw? Some sort of heat deformation of the celluloid?

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

I'm lead to believe this was factory, the barrel is shaped in a octagon pattern. This is only the second one to surface, so I don't think any definite conclusions have been made. For all we know this pen was made during an employees lunch break, or it could have been a test pen. .

2 rather rare Parker pens

A Senator and Arrow.

I will eat my hat if anyone has seen these before.

Hi Slimfish,

Would you like fries with that hat? (top tray near the middle).

Now if your looking for some uncommon Parker Arrows, try one in Grain d'Orge.

Or possibly a "short clip" model shop set with brushed finish (shown next to standard production clip).

But if your looking for rare Parker Arrows, perhaps try the L.P.R. Stewart Devlin original pre production set made from brass.

note the lack of smooth plastic lip on the section hood and the place holder where the hallmarks would go.

The bottom pen in this picture is a production L.P.R. (limited prestige range) Arrow ball pen, with full 18K hallmarks.

Below is a link for more information regarding these pens.

Nice collection of Arrows, Paul. Did any of the Arrow versions come with a gold nib? The answer, I think, would be 'no'.

Hi mitto,

No not as far as I am aware, I have never seen one yet.

I do however, have a Parker classic F.P. (later version of the 180) with a solid gold nib, these were all allegedly gold plated!

Paul.

Sorry I'm late coming back into this conversation. I thought I was following it to receive email notifications. Must not have been.

The pen I offered earlier in this thread has a faceted barrel and cap. They are faceted exactly the same way as the Parkette Deluxe. I don't have the Vacumatic book in front of me at the moment, but the authors state that 12 (if I recall correctly) were made in different styles in recognition of Arthur Dahlberg's contribution to the development of the Vacumatic filler.

Yes, one cap band is missing. This pen is quite different from the ones in the Janesville auction JotterAddict62 mentions. The pens that were in that auction were normal Senior models. Those were the only standard production pens with a thin-thick-thin cap band configuration. My pen is a smaller size, the Standard.

Is this the second you've seen in golden pearl? You're certain it's not the same pen you've seen before? It's a bit unclear how many of these were actually made. There were between 1 and 12 of these made. I haven't been able to get ahold of the actual documentation the authors of the Vacumatic book have that mentions the production of these pens.

No the other was a black Vac with the same shaped barrel.

I am talking about Parkers that have been in like regular production. For example, I'd say the French made Parker 17 Lady's are quite rare as you never see them on eBay at least in UK, Canada, and USA.

Here you see my French Parker 17 Lady Custom, 14 K gold, probably F-nib, produced during 1960's, next to my 51, to give an idea on the size...
