A Prize From The L A Pen Show

My specialty seems to be buying filthy, battered pens and keeping nibmeisters in provender.

This one was lurking in a case next to something that turned out to be a very tarnished Mabie Todd. I bought that one, too, but that's another forum. It's a 452 1/2 V with a pattern I've never seen before, but it had a bad crack at the barrel end which my jeweler has skillfully repaired. Perhaps someone knows what this pattern's called?

Barleycorn, hard to find on Waterman lever fillers as IIRC this was an export pattern. Lever is incorrect 1930's era, should be replaced with nickle trim globe lever.

Well, I think that's a beauty.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

I think several generations of jewelers have worked to keep this pen going. The business end is a stunner, though.

Of course, the innards need help. Perhaps Mr. Minuskin can swap out the lever for a correct one.

Wow, nice. I've never seen one in this pattern.

You can see that the lever is not correct by the rounded space for a rounded Ideal lever

Congratulations on the nice find. At pen shows I should spend more time looking thru those boxes of "misc" pens. Every now and then you find something real nice

It's one of the most reliable writers in my rotation. I'm glad I spent the time and money on it.
