What's Your Most Recent Addition To The Flock In 2017?

I've been hectically busy for the last few months, so haven't done much looking at pens of any sort (except for really enjoying using what I have).

Having said that, I did recently pass the M205 blue marble rather enticingly displayed in the window of a shop I was walking past (and on sale!). It's just possible that I made a brief detour... The online pictures don't do the finish justice: I wouldn't have been interested if I hadn't seen it in person.

The M405 Stresemann and M405 in Striated Blue I ordered last week have apparently made it out of the ISC in NYC and, at last count, have made it to a USPS sort facility in Kearny, NJ. :cloud9:

Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

And they're HERE! :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01: I saw the mailman coming up the driveway this afternoon and saw he had packages under his arm (there was something for my husband as well -- he ordered a 3D printer and it's apparently being sent in installments...).

No pix yet, sorry. I just got them flushed out with soapy water and then rinsed out well, and they're now draining into a paper towel inside a votive candle holder. I'll try to get some done this weekend when the light is better (they're predicting rain and thunderstorms for tonight and tomorrow).

Not sure what the date on the M405 Striated Blue is, but it seems to have an identical cap to the Stresemann (I think I may end up with the caps being swapped, because I wasn't paying attention...). Only got one fancy box though. But that's okay -- they're both for ME.... B) Although I did stick both of the small cardboard boxes inside that for storage.

The Stresemann has a B nib (I couldn't get one of the completely Rhodium plated ones, but that's okay). It's a darker grey than I expected, but still very nice. The M405 has an EF nib (both nibs are two-toned 14K, with the Pelikan logos unplated); I realized after I ordered it that I could have saved a little by getting a "standard" M400, with the gold trim, but I think I really like how the rhodium plating looks against the blue binde.

Very excited that they came so quickly (the M200 Café Crème sat in Customs for a week or so, and then took the scenic route from NYC via northern New England... :o). This time around, I think they were out of the ISC in about 2 days, and made it to my regional sort facility yesterday evening. So from Germany to here in just over a week....

So lots of happy dancing around here (although I'm also now feeling, well, kinda poor. They are easily the most expensive pens I've ever bought -- and are likely to remain so for a really long time... but they are so gorgeous! Both of them....

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

At last, an M450 Green Tortoise. Woo hoo! It's got an EF stub; I prefer broader nibs but I'll give it a fair chance. Pics and writing sample once I get all the dried black ink out of it. Ugh but well worth the effort.

Congratulations!!! Where did you find it?? I have lots of beautiful pens, but this one is in the top three.

Is the EF stub original? Inquiring minds want to know.

Jeez, you disappear for months and then drop this on us. I am so happy for you!!

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.

Wow! Daeng, that is a seriously beautiful pen, what is it's vintage and what material is the inlayed figure made of?

I can answer some of that. This was a limited edition of 800 pieces (a reference to 8th century BC) released in 2001. The emblem is made of sterling silver. Rather than inlaid, the emblem appears more applied to the outside of the barrel. Nice pen Daeng. Congrats.

Nice one-what are your thoughts? I am struggling to decide whether to get this one or not. I have the previous three and want to keep the collection in tact but this is not one of their best in my opinion. Also-I find myself unable to stop using my M400 tortoise. Been in the rotation since I received it and am content which scares me.

I'm writing up a review right now for my site. Stay tuned. Should be out in a day or two. The bottom line though is my sentiments are the exact same as yours.

My M600 Blue Stripe 14k xf arrived yesterday. I rinsed it out & it is drying. The pen I was using ran out of ink so I pulled out my M800 Red Stripe 18k f that I haven't used in years. I fill it with the Smokey Quartz that arrived the other day. I can't believe that I forgot how nice this pen is to use. I could have saved a lot of money & not purchased the last 30 pens.

Joshua is right. The Icarus decal is sterling silver fixed to the barrel. Though it looks simple, the sight of it is simply wow with light blue translucent corpus coupled with silver furnitures. The old style M800 attributes equally made the pen very attractive. I have reviewed the pen briefly here >> https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/320987-pelikan-se-daedalus-icarus-pen/

  • 3 weeks later...

Recently, I was able to acquire a long awaited M320 Pearl! I had collected the green/black, black, ruby red, yellow/orange, and green marbled, but when the pearl was released my budget was extremely tight and I had to wait. Finally, the pearl graces my collection!

Sadly though, the pearl is a bit of a disappointment in that it does not have and ink window in it. I don't understand why the designers left this feature out of the model. For myself, the ink window is one of the most valued characteristics of the Pelikan line.

Now I am on the hunt for an M200 deep Blue demonstrator. I thought I had purchased it long ago, but when I went looking recently I discover I had purchase 2 deep green pens instead of one of each. :( (Anyone interested in a trade, let me know!)

Fair winds and following seas.

Congratulations Ruth. I have never regretted any Pelikan purchase. Enjoy them for many years.

Just added a M600 which now joins it older M805 brother. The M600 is a fine, the M805 is a medium.
