Note to self: never check Amazon.de for Pelikan pricing, now suddenly the sale doesn't look that good (it's 78 EUR vs 70 on German Amazon). Still tempted to get it though... not entirely sure if it's good (for my wallet) or bad that Amazon won't ship Pelikans here.

Love to see this blue colour of M205 which aesthetically a different blue than the M200 blue marble. The former blue seems to be in deep blue colour. Thanks for sharing the photo. Makes me want to acquire one now.

Ok, final update on the 100, alas, I found out why it had been abandoned in the first place and why it is nothing but a nice conversation piece (albeit a very nice one). The cracks in the section threads allow ink to seep through, noticed this after it had sat there for a few days and wrote some with it and went: "Hmmm, why are my fingers blue?". Fixing those micro cracks (which run all around the section threads) would be veeeery tricky with absolutely no guarantee of a positive result so I will leave it as it is.

 

Anyway, this is just one of those things that can happen with vintage pens (part and parcel of this hobby of ours). You find a pen which looks pristine where it counts (for example the ink window on this one) but then you run into an issue that cannot be mitigated. Oh well, I am still happy to have that one in my collection.

_{The Nib: A NOS Pelikan M600 BB nib. I am surprised that this nib is considerably more flexible than the examples I have of the modern version. This is a very wet writer but unfortunately not at all 'stubbish'. I will send it off to a nib specialist for a regrind to stub or possibly cursive italic.}

I've only had mine for three days, so I'm still in the honeymoon phase and my comments should be taken with a grain of salt, but it's a very striking pen. I love my green-stripe M800, but the VB is a big step up in looks. And the translucency of the body makes it much easier than the green-strip to see the ink level.

 

If Pelikan were to come out with a red or yellow version.....

This arrived for me today. It's a leather pen case, with a bird logo thing on the clasp.

Yes, it is Pelikan leather inkbottle sleeve. I bought in Tokyo a few years back. Can't recall whether it was from Itoya or Maruzen stationary shop.

Pelikan 100N CN fine. Not the most spectacular of nibs (I swapped an OBB for this fine nib on the assumption that the OBB would get no use. I may regret that later).

 

Anyway, my first ever Pelikan. Never thought I would ever even see one, let alone own one. Massive risk for me. I really like the form factor here. When posted it is most comfortable. Too small un-posted of course.

I know, but I want my pens to use regularly. Understood lots of people go for the honking big nibs, I get that. I never sign anything so it would be of almost no use beyond curiosity value.

 

Now that I have seen a Pelikan and held/used it (for all of a few hours) I wonder what other models might appeal. I've heard that nearly all the modern nibs are ball-pointed, so that's a negative for me, though it can always be modified I guess. Adds to the cost though.
