A Flexible (Edison) Jowo #6

Synnove

Recommended Posts

Being fed by a Wahl #5 feed as the stock feed simply does not supply enough ink.

This was accomplished by lengthening the slit, making the shoulders shallower both horizontally and vertically, and grinding away material from the top and bottom of the tines and shoulders.

Unlike my Ahab and Jinhao flex nib experiments, this one always springs back without permanent deformation.

Is it set further out of the section than normal? It appears to be a longer nib than what the JoWo #6 usually looks like, or is that just because you thinned out the tines?

The performance is certainly impressive! I'd love to see more photos of the nib when you have the time.

In that picture it was in a Wahl #5 ebonite section using the accompanying feed, and yes the tines being shaved on the horizontal axis would also make it look longer.

At a reasonable pressure (around 340 grams), I get about 1.7mm line width. For comparison, a Zebra G at the same pressure is ever so slightly wider.
