Sailor Kingdom Note "fungi Series" Stropharia Aeruginosa

In May 2014 Kingdom Note came out with a new line of specialty inks from Sailor based on Mushrooms. At that time they were relatively easy to obtain, but only two of the inks were colors that appealed to me then, so I passed on the others. Recently several became available again as they sometimes do, and I decided to get them. I've learned that the little color circle on the box is only the most general idea of the ink color.

The five inks of this series are

Amanita muscaria (red)

Entoloma virescens (light blue)

Stropharia aeruginosa (green)

Mycena pura (pink)

Trametes versicolor (dark blue)

I'd reviewed the two blue inks earlier and the links are above. I just recently posted the review of the red ink. This is of the green ink, and this is a more soft green than a murky green. While I say in my writing on the ink that it's not greyed much, I think it must be to some extent to get the kind of color. It's not a bright green at all. Quite subtle. I think it's quite interesting. Not as super saturated with dye like the Trametes, this ink goes more for the shading. Fairly fast drying with excellent shading at least in this pen. The ink is nearly completely waterproof. There are plenty of bright greens, grass greens, spring greens, murky olive greens out there. There are not so many of these greyed greens. This is somewhat similar in hue to KWZ Rotten Green and Noodler's LE Colorado Spruce, at least those were the closest inks I could find in my collection.

This ink is now sold out again at Kingdom Note.

Pen: Pelikan M400 (F)

Papers: MvL=Mohawk via Linen, TR=Tomoe River, Hij=Hammermill 28 lb inkjet, Rhodia=Rhodia 90g ivory.

Camera: iPhone 7

The box here shows two completely different colors for the ink depending on whether you examine the little circle or the mushroom. It is nothing like that depiction of the mushroom and the color circle is nearly as dark as Tokiwa-matsu. Maybe in the right pen this ink is dark like that, but I didn't experience that.

When I look straight on at the screen the colors are pretty accurate.

Thanks for the review.

This looks like a nice green. But it also looks like some greens I already have. So I can pass on this one.

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

I just got a bottle of this recently, without any realization that it was waterproof. This would be a great ink for addressing Christmas cards.

Thanks for the super review!

Another great review. I never expected it to be so waterproof.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

The waterproof-ness was a surprise to me as well. But many of the KN Crustacean, Jellyfish, and some of the Fungi have very good water-resistance. I can't imagine this is an accident.
