New Cross Inks: Where Are They Made?

In another thread called "Trump's pen", people started discussing the fact not many products are made in a single country these days. Long story short, the subject turned to Cross in general and I wrote that their new inks were made in China, based on what I've read on the new labels. Then I found this: this (reputable) seller states 3 colors are made in Japan, and 3 others in the USA, and the bottles are made in China.

My question is this: does anyone know who makes these inks for Cross?

Hmmmm..... I couldn't see it on the bottle. I would think it should be marked. Have you asked the company?

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I like that black and the blue-black... they're both going in my cart. :D

I have and am waiting for an answer. I was wondering if anyone else had the information.

It's hard to say, there are only 2 ink makers in the US that I know of... PR and Noodlers... and I don't think their Noodlers... I'm not even too sure about PR.

Perhaps Cross is making them in-house themselves; they're a large enough company to handle that kind of endeavor.

You never know. As I understand it, these people used to make fountain pen ink for Cross.

Hi Tweel,

Ah, yes, a behind the scenes, industrial manufacturer/lab... I should have thought of that, myself. Thanks for the info. :)

Back in September I contacted the Slovenian company Vivapen that makes Scheaffer ink and I was told they now also make ink for Cross.

Bit of trivia: I know they also make fountain pens for German companies (Herlitz for example) and they apparently work with Faber Castell now as well. No idea, if it's just low end school pens or more, might send them an email and ask.
