My Ranga Model 5 arrived in the mail a couple of days ago, and would easily be the largest pen in my collection - here's a comparison picture:

And a picture of the pen on its own:

I'm really impressed with the look and feel - I ordered mine without nib, but designed to take a JoWo screw-in nib assembly. Both the pen and the nib I've installed (an architect grind from fpnibs.com) are superb - thanks again to @mehandiratta and Mr Kandan for their efforts in putting this group buy together!

I'm excited that my pens arrived today! Got the basic eyedropper in mottled brown and can't stop holding it. I also got the Oliver F27 in sea blue and red swirl--it is absolutely stunning under light. The Model 5 is as huge as others have said, and this photo shows it with a Lamy 2000 for comparison. Thanks for the opportunity to participate in this outstanding group buy!

Thanks for sharing! Interesting to see all the variations with the blue/orange/green ebonite. All our pens look unique.

I got the Jowo fine nib with my pen and it writes really juicy and smooth. Pen is really airtight when capped and there are no hardstarts when leaving the pen unused for days at a time.

Here is my Ranga collection. The top two are Model 5 from this buy: a black bakul; and a blue teal. Notice how much larger the black one is than the teal one. The black one is 19mm in diameter at the widest point

This image shows the colors a little better:

Left to right:

  • Regular ebonite, green ripple
  • Premium ebonite, white-blue swirl
  • Special ebonite, teal blue-black ripple
  • Regular ebonite, black, bakul finish

The left two pens are fitted with JoWo nibs from Goulet. The black Model 5 is currently nibless. The teal blue/black Model 5 has a 18k OBB nib from fpnibs.com:

And so you can see how honkin' big these things are, here if the smaller of the two Model 5 next to a MB 149:

I am very pleased with both recent group buys. I am tempted to order a Model 5 and one of the #8 nibs from fpnibs.com ...

The more I know about computers, the more I like my pens.

Received my two Ranga pens from this group buy...a Matte Demonstrator with polished finials and a Premium Ebonite Polished Orange...both with JOWO Broad nibs. These are beautiful pens...very large...incredibly well made. Kudos to Ranga for their attention to the highest quality writing instruments at a customer friendly price. These two pens join my Ranga Designer, Ranga Bamboo and Ranga Zeal as five of the best pens in my collection. Don't hesitate to give Ranga a try if you're interested in what India and it's skilled craftsmen have to offer. You won't be disappointed.

What a shame that ebonite isn't available at the moment - I love my blue-orange-green swirl, but this is really something else!

Thanks a lot Mr.Vaibhav Sir, I had a confusion whether Pen is beautiful or Picture is beautiful. Then concluded both are beautiful :) . I don't want to give up neither you or myself :)

  • 1 month later...

My package finally made it into my hands yesterday...

I bought both the Ranga model 5 and the Oliver, and was surprised at the weight of the box! mostly due to the Oliver, which is one heavy pen indeed, especially the cap. Luckily I do not normally post my pens, so it will be alright... I liked the transparent feed so am reluctant to fill that one.

The Ranga itself is even longer than I expected, although happily not as wide as I feared. I think this is a pen that will definitely get ample use. Looking forward to trying the Kanwrite nib...
