Kwzi Menthol Green

A retailer sent me a sample of this ink when I purchased a number of other things from them.

The handling of this ink is perfectly fine. It's just not my color. While the images make this look like Veronese Green, it's really more like Viridian. I'll take KWZ Midnight Green over Menthol Green any day of the year.

Pen: Edison Premiere (F-steel)

Papers: MvL=Mohawk via Linen, TR=Tomoe River, Hij=Hammermill 28 lb inkjet, Rhodia=Rhodia 90g ivory.

Camera: iPhone 7

Yup, I'm with you. This color sort of sets my teeth on edge. (Reminds me of Organic Studios L Frank Baum Emerald Green.)

But thanks for the review.

I agree that I wouldn't use this particular shade of green, but it is well-named. It does say "menthol" to me. (The shade of green I'm currently enjoying is the sample of KWZ's Green Gold #2. It's similar to Iroshizuku Chiku-rin -- like, when it's wet, it's so close! Then the color shifts subtly as it dries. Fun ink!)

Thanks for this review; it is not the green for me, and I appreciate learning that without buying yet another bottle of green ink.

I've been on a quest to see if I could commit all Seven Deadly Sins in a single day. Finally, it dawned on me I shouldn't try for the One Day Wonder Prize for all seven in one day. It's simply out of any question as you can't commit decent sloth while busily ticking the other six off your crowded "to do" list. -- ViolinWriter

With an unpopular ink, someone usually chimes in saying they like it, or they see some quality in the ink no one else sees.

But yeah, this shade of bluish-green pretty much nails the kind of greens I dislike, so thank you for saving me the trouble and expense.

I find it interesting that the discontinued CaranD'ache Caribean Sea was loved by the masses... but this Menthol Green doesn't get much love. You can find a scan of them in the Doppelganger thread.. they are extremely close in person.

I personally like Menthol Green...

Hi, thanks for a nice review!

I'll share a funny story about this ink. We didn't want to sell this ink some time ago, because it used to have a drawback - ghosting through the paper which appeared not immediately but after longer time. We generally love perfection and it was the only ink from standard range with such an issue. BUT so many people messaged us and asked for selling this ink as they didn't mind the drawback but loved the color, that we had to agree. Before we enlarged the manufacturing scale we found out how to improve it and eliminate this effect. The new formula introduced in September 2016 differs a bit in a shade (is a bit lighter) but at least won't ghost.

It is also the most popular color during all Polish pen events that we have participated so far ;)

Thank you Agnieszka for the story! While it's not my kind of colour, I think I shall at least give it a try!

I wonder if this is a case of absence making the heart grow fonder and that the inability to buy it now is leading to more people wishing they could own it...

This looks awfully similar to the Robert Oster Marine you also reviewed. I put the two up in separate tabs and switched between them and it's hard to tell the difference; the Marine is maybe a tad deeper?

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

My very favorite, Blue #4 is a ghoster, (and Konrad warns me that it will fade), but when it's ready, I'll need more bottles of that color. Thank you for being Mrs. KWZI.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).
