Hello! due to my excitement, I bought my first fountain pen, Lamy Nexx even without knowing much about it.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of forums about the Nexx. I hope someone can help me with my questions here:

1. is the nib replaceable with other sizes?

2. can I use other cartridges other than the T10? Parker Quink, maybe?

3. I've heard about z24 and z26, which of the two is better? (I don't care about the red color)

4. should I not post the cap?

5. how do I clean it?

Thanks!

  1. The nib is replaceable with other Lamy nibs. As far as I know all current production Lamy pens can interchange nibs except the 2000.
  2. You can only use Lamy cartridges. There was a post before that Quink and Lamy cartridges are interchangeable but in my experience a Lamy cart will be snug in a Parker but a Parker cartridge will not be as secure (but not loose) in a Lamy.
  3. I have not noticed a difference in performance. There is also the Z28 which I have not tried.
  4. Posting s purely personal. I don't post the cap of my pens unless it's too short unposted.
  5. I remove the cartridge/converter and hold that end right under a running tap. Dry with tissue paper or a paper towel. Repeat until no ink residue appears in the water or on the paper.

Enjoy your new pen!

The Z28 is a replacement for the Z24. They are functionally identical. Either the Z26* or the Z24/Z28 can be used but the latter types clip into the front section so are more secure.

* now called the Z27. If you're not confused you haven't been reading!

The Lamy nexx is a great pen and some prefer it to the Safari as the grip is a softer profile.

Yes, the Nexx uses the same design nib and feed as the Safari (and several others too).

The cap can be posted but as the barrel is triangular in section and the cap is round, it's never a great fit and I just don't feel I need to anyway, as the barrel is long enough to work with.

did it leak though? I only have parker cartridges for replacement, T10s are hard to find here.. (also, thanks for the answers :) )
