Blackest Black Ink...beating A Dead Horse Or Worth Revisiting?

I was once given a bottle of Levenger Raven Black. It was really, really black, and quite featherocious. That property convinced me not to buy it again. It was probably quite a few years after it ran out before I bought the Borealis Black.

 

Before I tried Noodler's Black (or had even heard of it), I loved Levenger Raven Black, because it was SO black. Yes, it feathers, but back when I bought two large boxes of cartridges (international small), I guess the notebooks I was using were impervious to feathering. Or maybe I did notice and that was why I wanted to find the "best" black (according to my needs).

 

Currently, I'm using these cartridges in my Montblanc 100-Year Historical, because the pen is cartridge-only, and I'm remembering why I liked this ink as much as I did. As long as I don't use it on feather-prone paper. Sigh.

As I recall, in the pre-Noodlers era, Pelikan Black was considered to be the blackest.

Bungbox Shogun Iuesu successful career is pretty black, though I've since sold my bottle thinking it was just a black ink, even though it was in the vase bottle. Kicking myself now obviously.

They're much the poorer for not having watched it. Great movie classic! Up there in my view with Monte Python and The Holy Grail.

I think I could quote 98% of the dialogue perfectly for those two films.

In a bit of mourning for John Hurt, who gave a most memorable performance as Caligula in a Masterpiece Theatre series, the best of the 70s easily when I was forced to watch it every week with my grandparents at the age of 10.

 

That and MPFC showed a world out there beyond the laid-off mental wasteland I was held prisoner in until University...

Pelikan Brilliant Black is quite nice in a wet writer. I've got a bottle of Sailor Jentle black on the way. I'm eager to see how that stacks up to my other black inks.

The best part is upon release they didn't play up it was meant to be a joke.

 

It was actually kinda like every rock documentary and interview that we had been watching for a long time.

Just inked up my Pelikan M200 with a newly arrived bottle of Sailor Jentle Black. It's really black. It's also fairly wet, like Aurora Black, but it dries faster.
