I imagine I'll follow suit with the Jinhao 992-Eco 1.1 stub combo.

Thank you for you input on the Plumix. I might have to give it another try because I did like its width very much when I had it. I thought the tines were quite stable as well. Stubs can become scratchy so easily.

Unfortunately I trialled the Plumix in my early and ignorant days of fountain pens before I acquired any sufficiently lubricated ink and proper know-how. I do have a couple Wing Sung 3003's on the way that may need such an upgrade.

My biggest problem with the Plumix nibs is that they get messed up easily. One of mine became annoying scratchy after using it to write 100 thank you cards on some rather rough card stock. Another one seems to have gotten a tiny burr or something in it. I guess because there's no tipping material the metal can easily get damaged. Now that I've got some micro-mesh of varying grits I should probably try to fix the bad ones. I was too lazy and bought a 3-pack for $16 on Ebay a couple months back though.

That sucks. My experience with the plumix nib was short lived. However, those were the reasons I was on and off with my 1.1 Goulet stub before I used Miruai with it. It's surprising how the smallest misalignment on a stub can create the scratchiness it does.

Careful with the smoothing, as I'm sure you know. That's why I gave mine away... I went too far with mylar paper. But that was before I acquired 12000 micromesh and knew better.

This pen doesn't have any inner cap to seal off the nib when capped like with the Jinhaos and other pens. I did notice some hard starts if I left the pen idle for a couple days, but nothing too annoying. The cap screws on quite well to make a decent seal. I don't think you'd be dissapointed with this pen.

As correction to my previous post: It appears the reason for hard starts with this pen was due to the nib I had in it at the time and not the pen. I've had a Pilot Penmanship EF nib in my Lorelei all week and left it unused for a couple days. Just picked it up and immediately wrote a full wet line, so no seal problems with the cap. I'm enjoying this pen more and more!
