Dear Fountain Pen and related writing instruments lovers living in Lima:

I will very soon be moving from Santiago and I am very keen to find out how intense is the fountain pen activity in the city wich will be my home for several years. Please let me know what should I expect, if there are any clubs, informal or formal meeting groups, etc. Worst case scenario, if the fountain pen life in Lima is not as alive as it should be ¡lets start a group ourselves!

Please let me know not only if you have any info, but also if you have any interest in starting something, what pens do you have, wich ones would you like to have, what inks do you use, what paper and ink brands can one find in Lima (in Santiago you only find Rhodia and Clairefontaine if you are veeery lucky and have bucks to spend. No Tomoe River in this city. And when it comes to inks, there is a little more since the penshop.cl site started: R&K, Lamy, J. Herbin, Sailor [only the Storia line], some Kaweco, some Parker, some Montblanc), wich places should I check out first upon my arrival, etc. Most Kind Regards to everybody.

Juan, A.K.A. Tintafuego

This has more than 100 views. There must be at least one person from Lima reading this. Reply! Come out and speak up!

Juan, my fountainpen using friends here in Curaçao also do not meet or even read here - and AFAIK there are no clubs either, although there are quite a few people who enjoy using fountain pens, and while it's not easy to get decent paper or journals, sometimes a person can get lucky... but my main sources have all been via the internet... I can't imagine it would have been much different in Santiago...? But in the end, you'll find that special store that sells pens, inks, and good paper, and it may even be a sort of focus for a FP user's community. But maybe you're barking up the wrong tree - try the spanish speaking websites... (and let us know if you find some people there!)

Good luck and happy hunting.

Not to stir the pot, but if you have no luck perhaps you can start a new club?

Another suggestion would be to stop by any fine pen stores and ask them if there are any informal gatherings.

Just ideas I would consider. Good luck!

Hola Juan,

Entiendo que en Lima no tenemos un club definido, aunque somos varios los que tenemos esta pasión. Si el grupo no existe, pues fundemos uno.

Un abrazo,

José Alberto
